Year 8 Girls Reign Supreme in the Inaugural AFL 9s Competition

The AFL 9s Herald Sun Shield Tournament held on Friday, September 6, 2024, saw 5 teams from Mordialloc College competing in their respective pools: The teams displayed commendable effort and competitiveness throughout the day. Here’s a breakdown of their performances.

Year 7 Boys

Round 1 - Mordialloc Red

Mordialloc Red 4.2.26 - Haileybury College 3.4.22.

Mordialloc Red kicked off their campaign with a thrilling win against Haileybury College. The match was closely contested, but Mordialloc Red’s determination led them to a narrow victory. This strong start set the tone for their performance in Pool A.

Round 1 - Mordialloc Blue

Mordialloc Blue 7.1.43 - Bentleigh Secondary College 1.1.7

In their last match, Mordialloc Blue faced their toughest challenge against Trinity Grammar. It was a nail-biting game that saw Trinity Grammar narrowly edging out Mordialloc Blue by just one point.

Despite their best efforts, they were unable to score, and Patterson River Secondary College secured a dominant win, with Patterson River winning by 38 points. With some girls having never played AFL before, this was their first opportunity to apply their skills. Despite the loss, the girls had a lot of fun in their first game.

Round 2 - Mordialloc College vs Glen Waverley Secondary College

Mordialloc College bounced back in Round 2 with a narrow victory over Glen Waverley Secondary College. In a closely contested match, Mordialloc College came out on top, winning by 4 points.

Round 3 - Mordialloc College vs Marymede Catholic College
