Principal Message
We are 2 weeks into the term, and it has been a very calm start with all students seemingly settling back into a learning routine and enjoying reconnecting with their peers. As we approach the end of 2024 there are many things to look forward to in the term.
Christmas Celebration Evening - December 11th @ 5pm - 7pm
We have decided to run our Christmas family evening at Stiggants Reserve again. We felt this worked well last year and provided more space and an undercover stage. We will have children performances, and Kirsty is making enquiries about having some entertainment or interactive performers come as well. FOWPS will be organising the food and drinks and we will have some craft activities set up also.
Grade 6 Graduation - Tuesday 17th December
The planning for Grade 6 graduation has begun with a parent committee being formed to begin their planning for the evening's celebrations. Graduation from primary school has become a milestone for students that is celebrated as a family. As a school, the teachers who have watched these children grow over the years also look forward to spending a special evening with them to share in their excitement as they begin the next important step in the learning journey.
Planning for 2025
The planning process for 2025 is a long one and I know parents and students begin to become anxious about next year and what that looks like for them. The decision-making process involves a great deal of consultation as we unpack a range of scenarios and the consider the budgetary impact of these. We must be sure that our choices are viable in the long term but weigh this up with the needs of our students and particular cohorts. The class structures for next year are yet to be finalised but as soon as a decision is reached, I will communicate to you the outcome.
As mentioned in last terms final newsletter there is a transition process, and this remains in place with the children being asked to complete a buddy hand next week. We will ask them to complete one for if they are in a straight level grade and then to complete one for if them are in a composite level grade. More often than not the list is the same for both, but sometimes there are students who have a strong connection with an older or younger student, and we want them to have the chance to nominate them. I have attached the transition schedule again for you to refer to.
Supervision times
Student safety at Warrandyte Primary School is our highest priority and the safe and appropriate supervision of students is an important element of our duty of care to students. Part of this duty is ensuring parents and students are aware of our student supervision arrangements before and after school.
Before school: School grounds are supervised at 8:45am - 9am
After school: School grounds are supervised from 3:30pm - 3:45pm
Students on school grounds outside these times will not be supervised (unless they are attending a before or after school care program or supervised extracurricular activity).
Parents/carers are requested to ensure that students do not attend school outside of these supervised times unless they are attending before or after school care, or a pre-arranged supervised activity (i.e. sports practice).
