Kindy to Year 2 Athletics Carnival

Our youngest champions from Kindy to Year 2 took centre stage at the Athletics Carnival, showcasing their boundless energy and determination.

Under clear, sunny skies, these young athletes impressed everyone with their performances in a variety of events. From hurdling and high jumping to long jumping and javelin throwing, each student gave their best effort, all while racing to the finish line with enthusiastic smiles.

The event was a delightful display of youthful spirit and sportsmanship, highlighting the joy of competition and the encouragement of our College community. Congratulations to all the young participants for their fantastic efforts and for making this year's carnival a memorable occasion!

Digital Inquiry Showcase

We were excited to present the Junior School Digital Inquiry Showcase during Week 9, a celebration of the innovative and transformative digital learning experiences of 2024.

This showcase offered a unique opportunity to explore the creative projects and insights our students have developed through inquiry-based learning in a digital environment. The community was invited to see firsthand how technology is transforming education.

Early Childhood Indigenous Incursion

Last week, our Pre-Primary to Year 2 students participated in an exciting incursion led by Greg Nannup from Indigenous Tours WA. Greg shared captivating Dreamtime stories and introduced the students to traditional bush tools in our Bush School space. We explored local bushland and native plants during a mini bush walk, discovering ancient bush foods and medicinal plants such as the Old Man Saltbush. Children were able to use their senses and touch possum and kangaroo fur, which was a highlight for them!

Father's Day Celebrations in the Early Years

Year 1 invited families to join us for our special Father’s Day STEAM Challenge. This challenge involved Year 1 students, working together as a team with their special visitors, to build a tall, strong tower out of newspaper and tape. The aim was to build a tall tower that was strong enough to hold a box of tissues. After our visitors left, we made predictions on whether our towers would hold the weight of the tissue box and shared our explanations. We had several activities including:

  • Make a boat that floats
  • Make the tallest/strongest tower
  • Make a spaghetti tower that holds a marshmallow
  • Lego challenges
  • Build a vehicle

Kindy A also held their Father's Day celebration last week. We welcomed our fathers, parents and special friends for a Loose Parts exploration in our garden, to celebrate their special day. Students had the opportunity to explore their creativity and imagination while self-directing their play. As an appreciation gift, we made our visitors infused BBQ oil and a special card.
