This term, we’ve begun exploring the concept of visualisation in reading. We’re learning what visualisation is, why it’s important, the intentions behind an author’s words, and how we interpret information. A fantastic introduction to this concept involved an activity

where students received instructions to draw a clown based on their own interpretations. The result was a delightful mix of giggles and creativity as they shared their unique creations. Check out the pictures!

This term, in writing we are starting debates. This week the 5/6 students have explored what a debate is, what is the purpose of a debate and have explored the roles and responsibilities of each debate team member. We have had engaging conversations
based on some real world topics such as ‘ The Canteen should only sell healthy foods’. Students have discussed both affirmative and negative points of view and have begun looking at persuasive devices within their writing to help persuade the listener. We are excited to continue this learning and look forward to our big debate towards the end of term.

For the past two weeks, our focus in maths is on division! As we explore this essential skill, students are learning how to break down larger numbers into smaller, manageable

groups. We’re using fun activities, like splitting manipulatives and playing division games, to make the concept come alive. We are excited to see the student growth in the coming weeks.
This term in Inquiry we are studying geography. The 5/6 students are exploring worldwide landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Great Wall of China and the Pyramids of Giza. Students are working in pairs to find these worldwide landmarks and are researching why they are important based on their cultural and physical significance. Over this term students will be putting together a presentation based on the landmarks they have investigated.

BPS WORLD CUP HAS BEGUN!!!!!
The teams for our annual soccer tournament have been selected and the games have begun. Miss Cliff’s team the ‘Cliffy Crushers’ have claimed the first victory against Ms. Yianni’s team. The teachers are as excited as the students and look forward to many more exciting games to come over the term.
