Mr. Carlyle's Message
Hello families and welcome to this week’s newsletter.
It has been a jam-packed start to term 4 with a fortnight evaporating before our very eyes. As the weather begins to heat up I would like to emphasise our expectations around summer uniforms. Particularly around the choices for shorts. Football shorts and bike shorts are not school uniform options.
Planning for 2025
Our school team is now going through the process of creating class lists for the 2025 school year. This process is extensive and involves many hours of staff time. Students are involved in this process too. We always guarantee students will have at least one peer, which may sound low, however with different composite and class structures it is impossible to provide any more assurance than this.
We also provide the opportunity for families to relay any considerations they have for next year too. As we have a process for considering student peer choices, please be aware we don’t take peer requests from families. However, if you have other circumstances you believe are exceptional that we do need to consider, these can be emailed to the school by Monday October 28th. (ballan.ps@education.vic.gov.au)
Special Announcements
I am thrilled to share that we have been advised that Ballan Primary School will receive $446,308.59 in funding under the Planned Maintenance Program in 2025. This is for targeted refurbishments throughout the school including roofing works, weatherboard facades, external paint works, and works on the gymnasium.
I am also thrilled to share that we were successful in receiving a 2024 Moorabool Wind Farm Community Grant for over $30,000 for the installation of new shade sails over the Ninja Warrior course. This will ensure all our outdoor equipment areas are under shade.
A big thank you to Bunnings who have kindly donated 25 computer mice to the school to be used in Science lessons. Year 5/6 students will be using them this term to work on the Tinkercad software program to create 3D-printed objects.
Colour Run
Unfortunately, the colour run had to be rescheduled due to storm management. The revised date for the color run is Friday the 8th of November starting at 2:30 pm.
Celebrating 150 years
This year Ballan Primary School will be celebrating its 150th year. In November this will see us hosting a community event that will merge with our Fete. The Parents and Friends Group is seeking anyone who would be interested in being a part of the organisation of this event. Or to help out or volunteer their time in any way, as Teamwork makes the Dream Work! You can reach out to me or the school, if you feel like you could contribute, or if you have a fantastic idea for something we could add to the celebrations.
