WHPS Art Show 2024

We feel very proud and excited to report that many months of planning and preparation has culminated in a highly successful and extremely well attended WHPS Art Show recently held on Thursday 12th September.

Our gymnasium was  totally transformed into a gallery which resulted in a spectacular, colourful visual feast as students’ precious artwork was displayed in various forms throughout, representing “Australia Our Home”. The beautiful voices of our choir certainly set the scene, welcoming excited guests as they arrived and the instrumental pieces that had been so carefully rehearsed, finally came to fruition, delighting everyone in attendance.

Students and visitors moved around the gallery excitedly searching for clues for the Passport Competition and voting for their favourite Class Work. The Winners, Runners Up and Honourable Mentions awarded for our enthusiastically embraced Student Art Competition, were proudly received and we thank the many students for wholeheartedly supporting this competition in the months leading up to the evening- your enthusiasm is testament to the way you approach all of your learning here at Wheelers Hill.

Enthusiastic and vigorous bidding for the highly prized class canvases intensified the atmosphere in the gallery with great assistance from the delightful Renee Drury and Meagan Baker.

On that note, I would like to wholeheartedly thank all of our wonderful sponsors (listed below) and our Parents Association, who have supported this major community event; please support them as they have supported us so generously.

Wheelers Hill Primary school boasts an incredibly strong and supportive parent community and we thank you all for coming to support our students on the evening. In addition to this we thank the amazing staff - energetic, passionate and committed educators who are always happy to extend themselves to ensure our students enjoy rich, diverse and innovative programs.

We are heavily indebted to all staff- our Leadership Team and our teaching and administrative staff for their support, good humour and tireless assistance whenever required.

A special mention goes to my Visual Arts colleague, Mrs. Meagan Baker for her support with the planning for the art show, enthusiasm for all aspects of the program and for assistance with the myriad of tasks required in the art show week. Her hard work and willingness to take on a leading role this term has been invaluable.

By celebrating and showcasing the work of our students at an event as special as the art show, we are reinforcing that we value their creativity and importantly, that we value their effort and endeavour. We take this opportunity to thank each and every student for the outstanding way they have approached this significant community event on the WHPS calendar- you have done your parents, teachers and of course your ART teachers very proud!
