Term 3 is finally coming to an end, and what a big term it has been! If we have a look back at all the things that have happened across the school in the last 10 weeks, it has included things such as;
With so many great things happening around the school, it's no wonder Term 3 has gone so quickly! As well as all these events, we have had huge grounds work, with the area around the Stadium undergoing a huge facelift as well as some much needed plumbing works. The area is now open for students, but will have a few more special additions over the holidays. We can't wait to see students using our newly refurbished play space in Term 4!
Today we farewell our OSHC Coordinator, Julie. Julie has been at Vermont PS for almost 11 years, and has become somewhat of a Vermont legend. Julie has coordinated our after school and holiday programs with exemplary management, ensuring the care and safety of hundreds of students over the years. Julie is heading into retirement, and we wish her and her family all the best as they embark on this next chapter together.
Emma McCaughey, who will be familiar to anyone who utilises our OSHC service, will be taking over as coordinator of our service.
Last night we hosted a fantastic parent evening for around 100 people, with Maths Coach, Michael Minas speaking about how parents can support their child's maths development. He spoke about the importance of a positive maths mindset, exploring maths concepts through real life actions and games and differents ways in which parents can help to ease anxiety around mathematics. You can find resources, activities and suggestions at the LoveMaths website here - Games — Love Maths
Thank you to Mr Wastie and the Maths Team for organising.
A reminder that in Term 4, all students are required to wear a school hat when outside. We strongly advise that students also apply sunscreen in the morning, and have their own in their bag to reapply during the day when required. The school's Sun Smart policy is on our website if you have any questions or queries about this.
We are pleased to be able to offer a special presentation on Cybersafety to our parents next term. The 'ThinkUKnow' parent evening is presented by the Federal Police, and is an excellent information session for anyone with young people in their lives. Information about what the program covers can be found here ThinkUKnow. It covers some important, yet confronting information that will teach parents about online safety, and things to look for when dealing with cyber issues. We will be holding this event on October 29 at the school. More information will come out next term about booking your spot!

Kind regards,
Jess, Joy & Jacci
