Parent Invitation - Year 12 Celebration Day

It is with great pleasure that we invite Year 12 parents/carers to join us in celebrating the remarkable journey of our Year 12 students on their last day of school, by attending a Morning Tea and/or the farewell assembly.

This day is a significant milestone for our students, marking the conclusion of their secondary education.  It is a time for reflecting on the hard work, dedication, and achievements they have demonstrated during their time at Wantirna College.

We warmly encourage parents/carers to attend and share this memorable occasion with your child, the school community, and our teaching staff. Your presence would mean a great deal as we recognise and honour the hard work and accomplishments of the Class of 2024.

Date: Friday 25th October

Parent Morning Tea: 11.15– 11:45am (K2 & K3)

Farewell assembly: 12.00pm - 1.00pm (COLA)

RSVP by Tue 22 Oct: Year 12 Celebration Day (office.com)

More details, including student expectations for the day, will be published on Compass in the week leading up to Celebration Day.

Unit 3 and 4 exams

All Unit 3 and 4 students are busy preparing for their upcoming examinations. We had a great turn out at both the exam revision sessions and formal practice exams during the recent holidays. These opportunities, along with the distribution of practice exam booklets for each subject, provide students with the best possible preparation for end of year exams. Students should be working through the provided practice exams (completing as many as 10 practice exams for each subject) and seeking feedback from teachers and peers to consolidate their knowledge and skills for each of their subjects.

All Year 12 VCE scored students are required at school for all scheduled classes up until Thursday 24 October, with Friday 25 October (Celebration Day) being their final day of school.

All students presenting for any 2024 VCE external examination should now have received their VCE Exams Navigator booklet. An online copy can be found HERE

All students are required by the VCAA to carefully read the exam navigator (parents are strongly encouraged to read it as well). It provides important information on:

  • Approved materials & equipment for examinations
  •  VCAA rules
  • Examination timetable, including dates and times
  • Special Provision information
  • 2024 VCE Results and ATAR Service

Students undertaking a Language and performance-based subject have recently completed or are in the process of completing their oral and performance examinations.

Written examinations start on Tuesday 29 October with English and EAL. We wish all students the best of luck during their upcoming examinations!

Important reminders for all Unit 3 and 4 students undertaking examinations:

1. Arrive 30mins prior to the examination (DO NOT BE LATE!)

2. Ensure your authorised writing materials and equipment is checked before you enter the examination room.

3. All response materials must be identified by their VCAA student number. This number,

which is assigned by the VCAA, appears on their individual Student Examination/ Assessment Timetables, which have been supplied, along with the 2024 navigator booklet.

4. Students are strongly encouraged to present to each exam with photo ID and / or wear their Year 12 Jacket to help supervisors and teaching staff verify they are a student from Wantirna College.

5. Mobile phones and other unauthorised electronic communication devices, including smart watches and fitness trackers, are not permitted in an examination room for written examinations under normal conditions. Confiscated mobile phones and other devices may be held by the VCAA for up to three months.

6. Students are not permitted to wear watches of any type during written examinations. All watches must be removed and placed at the top of your table, where they can be seen clearly and easily by supervisors. Stopwatches or watches with special functions, such as an alarm or a stopwatch, are not permitted in the examination room.

7. You may bring one bottle of still water into an examination room that is in a transparent plastic bottle (all labels removed) and must not be placed on the table at any time.

8. Pencil cases can only be brought into the examination room if they are transparent, i.e., the contents are visible to the supervisor (zip lock bag / plastic pocket).

9. Students sitting any VCE written examinations may bring the following basic stationery items into the examination:

Early Start VCE students:

Early Start VCE students are to study in the library, senior centre or Pathways Hub from Monday 28 October, during the periods they would normally have their year 12 subject.

Early start students will have their attendance approved on the day of their Year 12 exam.  As such, they are not required to attend their Year 11 classes the day of their exam.

VCE Results and ATAR Service

For Year 12 students & Year 11 Early-Start students

The VCAA and Victorian Admissions Centre (VTAC) offer three options for accessing VCE results and the ATAR: internet, mail, and app. The VCAA also offers an email option for accessing VCE and VCAL results.

The VCAA and VTAC encourage all students to register for access to the VCE Results and ATAR service before the release of results.

To register:

Registrations are currently open and must be completed by 5pm Sunday 8 December 2024.

Students will need:

  • their VCAA student number and personal details
  • to create a secure password
  • to only register once - your password can be used for both the internet service and the mobile app.

If you have a VTAC account, this will not give you access to the VCE Results and ATAR Service.

Getting your results

Results are available online, by mail, email and mobile app.

Online: The online service is free and available 24 hours a day once results are released.

Mail: VCE and VM results, and ATAR statements will arrive in the mail from Thursday 12 December 2024 (only for students who have applied via VTAC and submitted their payment.)

Students who have not applied for courses can request an ATAR statement from the VTAC website. Administrative fees apply.

VCE certificates (including VM) are distributed by schools and colleges, rather than mailed with the results.

Mobile app: Download from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Search for ‘VCE Results and ATAR’. You can install the app now but 2024 results and ATAR’s won’t be available until 7-7.15am Thursday 12 December 2024. Note that location restrictions may prevent access from outside Australia.

Year 11 Exams

Wed 13 - Wed 20 November

The Year 11 Examinations will assess students on content from both Unit 1 and Unit 2. VM-Hybrid students are expected to complete the Unit 1 and Unit 2 exams unless they have organised a work placement.

The purpose of having exams in Year 11 is to:

  • Demonstrate evidence of learning (knowledge and skills) learnt across the units of learning.
  • Provide opportunities for students to experience and engage in exam preparation, including a structured exam timetable.
  • Replicate the format and experience for sitting exams in a timed and formal setting, including adhering to exam rules and processes similar to that in Year 12

Year 11 Exam Information, including timetable and expectations, will be published to all students and parents on Teams and Compass in the coming weeks.
