Friday 21st March was Harmony Day in Australia and at St Philip's we celebrated it for the week.
This year the Senior Round Square Committee of Year 11 and 12 students under the direction of the Round Square Captain, Elisabeth Holzmann worked very hard to organise a series of events to showcase our multiculturalism, celebrate our diversity and bring the St Philip's community together.
This included:
- making a banner of hands
- running a Scavenger Hunt across the school with Year 11 + 8 buddies and Year 12 + 7 buddies
- providing a fun Kahoot during Tutor Group and
- asking all houses to show their cultural heritage on a series of maps.
Later in the week there was a Just Dance event where everyone was invited to have fun dancing together in the hall, and then on Friday national Harmony Day was celebrated with live music from some of our talented music students, face painting, a photo booth opportunity and an international bake sale organised by our junior leaders, together with the banner and maps being on display.
All these activities were combined with the fabulous Wellbeing Assembly on Wednesday which focused on our College values of HEART.
Harmony Week 2025 has been about having fun and reminding everyone about WHO we are , WHAT we value and WHY our St Philip's community is so special.
Our two Round Square exchange students, Daria Seegers from Birklehof School in Germany and Betty Innes from Gordonstoun in England, along with our Gappies Noah Wubtaye-Tekle and Maimouna Ouelogo all enjoyed a cultural tour at Standley Chasm this week.
They had the opportunity to learn about this incredible place from local guides and appreciate the cultural significance for Indigenous people of this region. Thank you to Jodie Jensen from Girls' Boarding for being the bus driver.
