On March 21st, Red Cliffs Secondary School celebrated Harmony Day—a special day dedicated to acknowledging and embracing the diverse cultures that make up our vibrant community. This year, we went all out to make the event one to remember, filled with fun, learning, and unity! One of the highlights of the day was part of the Resilience Project—a colourful and interactive activity titled "Our Multicultural Australia." Students were asked to fill in a hexagon with questions such as “Where were you born?”, “What’s your favourite food?”, and “What’s your favourite cultural tradition?”. The responses were then collected and displayed as a mural in the school library. This was a beautiful way to visually represent the many different cultures at Red Cliffs and demonstrate that no matter where we come from, we all share values of respect, kindness, and belonging. Congratulations to Jaylen for his creative entry and winning a café voucher!
The creativity continued with a photo competition, where students and staff captured moments that showcased the beauty of different cultures and backgrounds. From fishing, to cooking cultural dishes, to even squashing tomatoes—there was no shortage of imagination in this fun-filled activity! A big shoutout to Phoenix and Poppy for winning
Throughout the day, the school was filled with the sounds of culturally diverse music. Between bell times, we were treated to a variety of songs that celebrated the many cultures represented at Red Cliffs. The excitement peaked on Friday lunchtime with a live music performance by some of our very own talented students, who rocked their cultural tunes in the courtyard, spreading joy and unity across the school.
Lastly, in collaboration with the Reddy Café, each day focused on a different country, offering a range of delicious dishes for everyone to try. Whether it was tasty tacos, classic meat pies, crispy spring rolls, or hearty hot dogs, the food offerings were a perfect way to taste the rich cultural diversity of our school community.
Harmony Day is all about celebrating diversity, building respect, and creating a sense of belonging. The activities, music, and food all worked together to highlight the incredible cultural tapestry that makes our school such a special place. At Red Cliffs, we are proud to be part of a community that thrives on kindness and inclusivity.
