Inspiring Creativity: TEXSTYLE Showcase

Our Stage 5 and 6 Textiles and Design Students had the great opportunity to visit the TEXSTYLE Showcase at the NSW Embroiderers Guild, Gallery 76. This was a showcase of exemplary works from the 2024 HSC Textiles and Design Major works. Our students drew inspiration from the various projects, techniques and materials. This excursion provided valuable insight and we look forward to seeing them refine their skills in current projects. A big thank you to Ms. Cortese and Mrs. Bou-Melhem for providing our Stage 5 and 6 Textiles and Design students with the opportunity to visit the TEXSTYLE Showcase and gain invaluable inspiration for their projects.

Learning through food

Our Year 8 Arabic class added some flavour to their learning this term with the theme of "Food"

Guided by their teacher, students explored the names of everyday foods, ingredients, and even discovered the world of traditional Arabic sweets. To put their knowledge into action, they worked together to prepare a delicious dish of Tabouli. It was a hands-on, fun-filled activity where language and culture came together—learning has never tasted so good!

Year 9 Geography field trip

Last term, our Year 9 students took their Geography lessons outside, transforming the outdoors into their classroom. Building on the knowledge they gained last term, students applied their learning to their current topic of Sustainable Biomes.

Through hands-on activities and real-world observations, students explored the importance of sustainability and the ways in which different environments can be protected and managed. The outdoor setting provided a fresh and engaging way to connect theory with practice, deepening their understanding of the natural world.

It was fantastic to see the students so engaged and enthusiastic as they brought their learning to life beyond the walls of the classroom!

Foundation Fun with Numbers!

K Rose showed fantastic teamwork and number sense during a hands-on math's activity! The students were given jumbled number cards from 0 to 30 and worked collaboratively to put them in the correct order. With enthusiasm and focus, they carefully discussed, sorted, and sequenced the numbers, counting forwards together all the way to 30.

It was wonderful to see their growing confidence with number recognition and ordering, as well as the way they supported each other throughout the task.

Activities like this not only build early numeracy skills but also foster cooperation, communication, and persistence. Well done, K Rose!
