Focus on setting your mind on things above - Authored by Raquel Elias Year 11

The season before Easter signifies the troubles in which we live here and now, while the time after Easter which we are celebrating at present signifies the happiness that will be ours in the future. What we commemorate before Easter is what we experience in this life; what we celebrate after Easter points to something we do not yet possess. This is why we keep the first season with fasting and prayer; but now the fast is over and we devote the present season to praise. Such is the meaning of the Alleluia we sing.

Yr. 11 Stations of The Cross

Our Year 11 students had the privilege of participating in the Stations of the Cross as part of their newly introduced Spirituality Studies Course.

I am pleased with the remarkable efforts of our Year 11 Spirituality Studies teachers—Sr. Juliette, Mr. Charbel Elias, Ms. Rachel Chalhoub, and Mrs. Charlene Youssef—along with the reverent engagement of our Year 11 students this morning.

Yr. 5 Religion Lesson in the Chapel

5 Opal and 5 Rainbow gathered in the chapel with Sr Rita for a special Religion lesson. They learned about the Rite of the Lamp (celebrated on Holy Wednesday) and explored the story of Job (Ayoub), reflecting on his suffering and unwavering faith in God.

Passion Week College Mass

The MCHF community came together to mark the end of Term 1 with Passion Week Mass. A heartfelt thank you to Miss Youssef and her talented Drama students, who brought the story of Our Lord Jesus Christ’s Passion to life through a powerful and moving performance.

Aged Care Visits

At the end of Term 1, students had several opportunities to celebrate Easter with the Aged Care residents.

Year 2 students showcased their creative and colourful hats, spreading joy and smiles among the residents.

In addition, the College choirs from both Primary and Secondary gathered to sing uplifting Easter hymns, filling the air with the spirit of renewal and hope.

Also, a group of Year 12 students had the chance to visit the facility. Below is the testimony of Joseph Youssef:

“During Term 1, I had the privilege, alongside a group of Year 12 students, to visit Our Lady of Mercy Place, our local residential aged care facility. During our visit, we had the opportunity to engage with a group of residents, connecting with them through stories and sharing in conversations as we decorated and framed pictures of Jesus for them to place by their bedside tables. I had the privilege of meeting a lovely woman who shared stories with me, of her time in Lebanon working in textiles, and her life in Australia and travels with her father. It was heartwarming to see how happy the residents were to talk with us. Their smiles and enthusiasm reminded me of the simple joy that comes from sharing time, conversation, and creativity with others”.
