Language Experience

We have continued our Language Experiences throughout Term 3, which have been an excellent way for students to engage in a rich learning experience to help to continue to develop our letter-sound knowledge, high-frequency words and sentence structure in writing. 

In week 8, we used the mentor text Bubbles in the Park throughout the week to inspire our language experience. After this experience, we brainstormed adjectives about our bubbles before we completed our writing.

In week 10, we used the mentor text Let's Get a Pup throughout the week and then created our own dogs! This experience helped support us to use the sounding out strategies when we were writing about our dogs, as well as practising including high-frequency words, as students independently wrote a recount sentence beginning with 

'My dog'

Maths

In Maths, we have been putting our number knowledge to the test by playing the game Get out of My House. 

The aim of this place value game is to be the first player to have all of your counters on the board. Students take turns drawing a playing card from the pile and place their counter in the numbered house of the card they drew, one number before or one number after the number on their card. If a player lands on a number with a counter already in the house, then the first person has to take their counter back.

So while playing this game, students have had to work strategically, using their understanding of numbers before and after a given number to try to win. We have also began extending students by placing their counter in the numbered house of the card they drew, two numbers before or two numbers after the number on their card.

Discovery Open Afternoon

The Preps have been busily working on their farm dioramas for the Discovery open afternoon and cannot wait to share them with everyone! 

Families are invited to come and see the incredible work students have been doing on Tuesday 1st July from 2:30pm to 4:15pm.

End of Term Reminders – Important Dates!

As we near the end of a busy and exciting term, here are a few important reminders:

• Final Day & Assembly – On the last day of school, students can wear their PJs for our JSC Out of Uniform Day. Please bring a gold coin donation. We also have an early finish on the last day with our end of term assembly beginning at 2:00pm, with an early dismissal at 2:30pm on Friday 4th July.
• Student Portfolios – Please return portfolios to your child’s classroom teacher as soon as possible.
