From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

In her book Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance, renowned American academic and Professor of Psychology, Angela Duckworth reminds us that:

"Passion begins with intrinsically enjoying what you do."

As we prepare for Term 2, this simple yet powerful idea reminds us of the importance of finding joy and purpose in our everyday work and learning.

At the heart of our College are passionate educators and support staff who genuinely love what they do. Their enthusiasm for teaching, mentoring and creating engaging learning environments is what makes our school such a vibrant place. It’s their passion and the care they show each day that helps spark curiosity and confidence in our students. I am grateful to have staff who live out their purpose with warmth, professionalism and heart.

As you can imagine, the campus has felt quite empty during the break without our students! We are looking forward to their return and diving into all that Term 2 has to offer. Whether it’s discovering a new interest, striving toward a personal goal or deepening friendships, we encourage every student to find the things that bring them joy and meaning. Passion often begins in small moments, and we look forward to seeing those moments unfold across the term.

Construction of our new three-storey building, ‘The EDGE’, is now in its final stages. Designed to be a dynamic hub for Entrepreneurship, Design, Growth and Engineering, The EDGE will offer an inspiring space for innovation and hands-on learning. It will feature cutting-edge fitouts and state-of-the-art Design Technology Fabrication Workshops, purpose-built to spark creativity and curiosity in our students. We anticipate completion of the build mid-term, with classes beginning in the new spaces shortly after. We look forward to hosting some events in this space in the near future.

We are welcoming seven new students to our College next Wednesday – four in Primary and three in Secondary. Thank you in advance for warmly embracing these students and their families. Clayfield is a place where our values of belonging and community are truly lived out, and I’m grateful for the key role you play in making that possible.

I hope your Easter is filled with rest and connection, and I thank you for your ongoing support as we head into Term 2 together.

Kind regards,
