Fungi Exhibition

We have been exploring all things fungi in Art class at Taradale this term. Students have been experimenting with the use of mushrooms as a motif and we have been watching some amazing fungi time lapse videos. Renowned Artist Yayoi Kusama currently has her exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria so we have been using her work as inspiration for the many colours and patterns in students' work.

On display you will see some wonderful acrylic and watercolour paintings on paper inspired by fungi. Some students went with a more traditional approach to painting mushrooms whereas others used their imaginations to express worlds and abstract ideas around fungi themes.

On the tables you will see some incredible mushroom sculptures. These were made using concrete and sticks and were painted using an outdoor mural paint. Students each made two mushrooms. One mushroom will go home with students for their own gardens and the other will stay at school to be part of an outdoor fairy garden.

We hope you enjoy our Art Exhibition!
