Chilwell Fair
Red Winter, Grace Britnell and Jazz Syndicate performed at Chilwell Fair last Friday, playing some fabulous tunes, and representing BHS with distinction! Many thanks to Sandra Coulsen for volunteering her time to help out with this event.
Woodwind Ensemble, Brass Ensemble, Erin and Morgan, Charli, Olivia, Mackenzie, Chopped, Trombone Choir, Junior Rock band and Intermediate Jazz performed at last week’s GEMfest 2025.
GemFEST 2025 was fantastic! It was bigger and better than last year! Our students all performed so well. What a wonderful way to finish off the term for our junior and small music groups. A special shout out to newly formed groups, Junior Rock Band, Trombone Choir and CHOPPED who had their very first performance at GemFEST on Wednesday afternoon. 🎵🎵🎵
A big thank you to Emma Moffatt and Amanda Linton for their work with these groups.
Thanks to all who donated goods for our Music Support group stall at GEMfest. We raised just over $300 from this event. Thanks to all who jumped in to help out on the stall throughout the event.
Vocal Soiree
Last Thursday Nadine and her students shared songs with friends at their end of term Soiree. Students sounded fabulous, and as always, heartfelt thanks to Nadine nurturing the confidence of our vocal students to participate in such a wonderful event.
Beginning Band Concert
This was our first performance on BHS grounds for our Beginning students and was a great opportunity for new music families to meet each other, and for students to share the amazing progress they have made in such a short time. Students were excited to be part of the event, confidently playing solos and small ensembles, and it was great to see so many parents in the audience enjoying their children’s performances. We are so lucky to have Emma Moffatt creating such a rich and nurturing learning environment for our beginning music students!
Band Captains Lee, Declan, Liam and Jacinta ran games and mentored students throughout the event, helping to cook and serve at the BBQ, being fabulous role models for our Year 7 students, and really showcasing their leadership qualities! Many thanks also to parents who helped out with the BBQ cooking/serving, to Joel Gladman for organizing the BBQ and to Amanda Linton for all her support with the event, and for the beautiful photos.
Thanks also to Vincent and Darren for making sure we had BBQs to cook on, eskies for the sausages, and extra bins to put our rubbish in!
Junior Rock Band performed in the band room at last Monday’s ‘Tunes’ with a crowd of friends cheering them on! This followed on from their first public performance at GEMFest last week, and they turned on a great show. This group is one to watch! Rehearsals are Tuesday lunchtimes in Bandroom 2.
