Primary Music
In Term One in the Music Room, ELC and Kindergarten students have enjoyed singing and playing the coloured chime bars and singing ‘Bounce Bounce’ with the stretchy cord. Year 2 students have been learning to sing and to play fish Tank on the xylophones. In Year 3, songs about tropical fruits with Under the Mango Tree a favourite. Composition has been a focus in years 4 and 5. Students have been learning about the pentatonic scale and created rhythms which they then added notes to make their short musical composition. In Year 6 the students have been having a ‘taste’ of rock band instruments: drum kit, electric bass and ukulele. They will be forming groups to play songs together.
Instrumental Music Tuition
Learning a musical instrument has far reaching benefits. Individual instrumental music lessons are available before, during and after school and we are fortunate to have some experienced Music Teachers of all instruments, who are excellent musicians in their own right. Lessons are then organised in consultation with the instrumental teacher, class teacher and student.
If you’d like to enrol your daughter for Instrumental Music Lessons, click on the link below for more information and to sign up. As the music lessons are additional to class music, an enrolment form needs to be completed. There is no cut-off date for enrolment and it is important to fill out one form per instrument.
Usually, students can be withdrawn from class for one instrument only. If your child wishes to learn two instruments they will need to learn the second instrument outside of class time. Primary students cannot be withdrawn before recess and for some classes, before lunch.
Tuition fees are $43 per 30-minute lesson and are paid by the Term, directly to the music tutor.

Autumn Concert
Last Wednesday, our Year 9/10 Elective Music Students, the Middle Years Voices, the Senior Singers, Ceilidh Band, Pizzicato Players and the College Orchestra staged our annual Autumn Concert.
A large audience was in attendance to enjoy a wonderful evening of high quality music from a range of ensembles and musical genres. The concert was capped off with a rousing sing-a-long led by our College Staff choir - MC Chorale.
Congratulations to everyone who was involved on the night. It was a joyful celebration of our students’ impressive music making in this early part of the year. You can view the concert on our YouTube page by clicking on the link below.
