Around the Primary Classes

Term One at Outside School Hours Care (OSHC)

This term at OSHC, we've been thrilled to welcome both new and returning families back into our vibrant space. It’s been wonderful to see the children quickly settle in, showing a strong sense of security and belonging as they reconnect with their friends and educators. The bonds of friendship are growing, not only among the OSHC children but also with the ELC, creating a truly supportive and connected community.

Throughout the term, we've been exploring a wide variety of exciting activities and experiences. Our afternoons have been filled with fun, from playing on the playground to taking part in energetic sessions in the dance studio, where the children delighted in dancing, singing, and even participating in a fun quiz on the big screen.

Additionally, we’ve spent time in the ELC building, engaging in a range of creative arts and crafts, hands-on science experiments, and building elaborate cubby houses. These experiences have fostered creativity and teamwork while allowing the children to explore their imagination.

One of our weekly highlights is our Friday afternoon “Just Dance” sessions, which have become a favorite for all ages. It’s always a joyous, high-energy time where children of all ages come together to dance, laugh, and enjoy one another’s company.

We are so proud of the strong relationships being built and the sense of belonging that is flourishing here at OSHC, and we look forward to more fun and meaningful moments as the term continues!

Prep

What a wonderful term we have had together in Prep.  We have enjoyed learning many new sounds and meeting the characters in InitaLit.  We have been working hard to improve our counting skills in Mathematics.

One of our biggest highlights in Term One, was our recent excursion to Fullers Bookstore followed by the Royal Botanical Gardens.  We were very grateful to be able to share a story at Fullers then choose our very own new book to take home.  We then did a big walk around the Botanical Gardens looking for signs of autumn before enjoying a picnic lunch.

Year 2

Year 2 have been studying about the Richmond Bridge is history this term. We have learnt the life of a convict and how they made the bridge.

To consolidate our learning we went on an excursion to Old Hobart Town and the Richmond Bridge. Little historians in the making!

Year 4

Students in Year 4 have enjoyed a fantastic Term 1! We have focused on persuasive writing and explored place value and addition and subtraction strategies. We have had lively class discussions on the difference between rules and laws and started learning about forces. Students have learned Jesus's teaching to "love your neighbour," creating a classroom neighbourhood to demonstrate kindness and community. We are looking forward to another busy and exciting term in Term 2.

Year 5

Year 5 have worked together to create prayer spaces which invite others to pray this Lenten Season. Each prayer space has a theme, a focal point.  The prayer space must engage the senses and have an element which invites participation or engagement.
