Volleyball Finalists
The Year 8 Gold Volleyball team participated in the Year 7/8 SSATIS finals on Tuesday afternoon, in a thrilling encounter at Dominic College. From a roster of 23 teams, Mount Carmel Gold have finished a remarkable 3rd place.
The first match was a 2 v 3 encounter against Dominic College Yellow. The team went down 15-13 in the first set, but bounced back strongly to win the second set 15-10, sending the match to a third. This went end to end, until finally Dominic came out in front 16-14. Unfortunately, this put Mount Carmel in the play-off for third, while Dominic Yellow advanced to the Grand Final.
Mount Carmel played out another thriller against Dominic Blue in the play off match. The first set was a 15-13 loss, but again the team rallied to win the second set 15-7. This time the final set went to Mount Carmel 16-14, resulting in a third place finish.
Congratulations to the team for making it that far, and putting up a brave fight. The team included Scarlett Gilmour, Kirsten Upton, Sadie Stevens, Alba Crook, Nina Gibbs, Emily Mason, Sophie Haremza, Violet Grierson and Matilda Mulcahy. Thanks for Graham Stevens for looking after the team this season.
Secondary Cricket
This term, Mount Carmel has been participating in the SSATIS Secondary Cricket roster on a Thursday afternoon. Many students were playing competitive cricket for the first time, and did a wonderful job, having a go at bowling for the first time, and often facing bowlers with Club experience.
The team showed improvement in batting, bowling and fielding as the roster progressed, eventually finishing the roster in 4th place on the ladder.
Thanks to Lucy Henderson for scoring and managing the team.
Primary Soccer
The JSSATIS soccer roster concluded on Thursday last week. Well done to everyone that gave it their all at soccer, and especially to those that were giving it a go for the first time. I hope the students had lots of fun and families enjoyed watching them.
