Willoughby Council Road Safety Plan

On Wednesday the Year 8 SRC, along with some senior students, participated in a presentation by 2 members of the Willoughby City Council about a road safety plan. This plan aims to make our roads a safer place for all road users within the local area, preventing crashes and serious injuries. We learned about the safe system approach that focuses on safe roads, safe people, safe vehicles, safe speeds and how they aim to utilises these key elements in their plan. The council’s road safety plan has five focus areas that include leadership and best practice, safer streets and speeds, safer active and public transport, community engagement, education and awareness, and advocacy and collaboration. These focus areas show how the council's plan will make our roads a safer place for everyone. All students who were invited were then asked to fill out a survey to give the council some information on their thoughts of road safety and their plan.

World Frog Day Winners

Congratulations to Finn (Year 9) pictured and Ashton (Year 7) for their winning estimates in the Frog Guessing Competition. Both were nearest to the number and will share in the 311 frogs in the jar.

One of the values of a Catholic Education in the Edmund Rice tradition is that of Environmental Stewardship. Joining in World Frog Day celebrations gave us the opportunity to show our appreciation of this value. Our students, as Stewards of Creation can positively contribute to sustainable environments so that the 230 Australian frog species survive for future generations.

Thank you to the many staff and students who participated in the competition.
