Encouraging Exploration and Growth
At Mary MacKillop College, we understand that choosing a career path can be overwhelming. That’s why we strive to provide a supportive environment where students can explore their interests and aspirations. Whether through workshops, mentorship programs, or hands-on experiences, we are dedicated to helping our students discover their passions and prepare for their futures.
Career pathways can take many forms, and our team is here to support each student in finding the path that suits them best. Together, we are building a foundation for success, ensuring that every student at Mary MacKillop College is empowered to reach their full potential. Let's embrace the journey ahead!
Year 10 Work Experience Monday 2 June to Friday 6 June 2025
Each year the Year 10 students are provided with the opportunity to complete a week of Work Experience at an organisation of their choice. This year the 2025 Year 10 Work Experience program will take place from Monday 2 June to Friday 6 June 2025 inclusive.
Work experience packs were handed out to every Year 10 student at the beginning of this term, and students should be well on their way to having secured their placement for the week. If you haven’t already, please familiarise yourself with the forms, and in particular, the parent letter, and encourage your students to be proactive in their search for a suitable placement. Completed packs will be returned to school for processing no later than Thursday 24 April 2025.
If you work in a business that would be interested in taking one of students for a Work Experience placement, please contact the Careers Team on 5662 4255.
Mary MacKillop Catholic Regional College VCE Careers Program
Dear Parents/Guardians,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce our Careers team and extend an invitation for you to explore the careers program that we have at the college for the students during their final years of secondary school. In 2025, the careers team consists of myself, Ms Cassie Raschle and, Ms. Melissa Preston. We welcome the opportunity to speak with you about your child’s aspirations and options. Please feel free to email us directly or phone the college reception. Mary MacKillop College is very fortunate to have a dedicated careers website which is full of resources and information for both you and your VCE student(s) to work through together. It can be found from a link on SIMON, or directly at www.mmcrccareers.com. It is the main method of communication regarding career activities both locally and externally. We encourage you to sign up for the newsfeed on this site (https://www.mmcrccareers.com/for-parents/newsfeed), which will deliver the most recent updates of key dates and events. There will also be notification of job and apprenticeship opportunities published in the newsfeed. We encourage you to explore this fabulous asset thoroughly and regularly. Throughout the year, the college will host a range of workshops, guest speakers, and career activities that encourage students to be curious and proactive in their career exploration. Activities will be added and edited throughout the year and promoted through our careers website and college newsletter. We encourage you to take your child to one of the career expos in Melbourne, as these are a fabulous way to get around many Tertiary institutions, Gap Year program providers, and industry representatives all in one day. It is also worth checking the calendar of University Open Days to start planning visits and tours of campuses and residential colleges. The details for all these events can be found by visiting www.mmcrccareers.com.
Yours sincerely
Kate Dwyer Laura Higgins
