Year 1 News

2024 Olympic Games Paris

The Year 1 students enjoyed being immersed in all things Olympics during the two-week period. They learnt about the Olympic Rings, French Mascot and different flag colours. They kept a daily medal tally and researched many different sports. They were asked to write about their favourite Olympic sport and came up with some good reasons why.

Potato Olympics

On Thursday 8 August the Year 1 students participated in the Potato Olympics.

It was a fun filled event which everyone enjoyed. Before the games could begin the students decorated their spuds and named them. The classrooms were filled with laughter as their potato athletes came to life.

The events they participated in included gymnastics, diving, dancing and long-distance roll. There were some extremely talented spuds amongst the group with many bringing home a medal. Well done to all the potato athletes that competed.

Book Week

Monday 19 marked the beginning of Book Week. This year's theme was Reading is Magic and the Year 1 students enjoyed reading many of the short-listed books throughout the week.

The highlight was dressing up as our favourite characters and participating in the whole school parade. Everyone looked fabulous.

It has been a busy few weeks in Year 1 full of so much fun and learning!
