Bucket Filling Moments

Our school children are well versed, as you may be, with Carol McCloud's picture storybook 'Have You Filled a Bucket Today?' The heartwarming book encourages positive behaviour and demonstrates how rewarding it is to express daily kindness, appreciation, and love by filling someone's bucket with positive experiences and feedback.

This week I have been flooded with bucket-filling moments.

As previously shared, our school is currently undergoing our four-year Department of Education School Review. This has involved the Review Panel, which consists of an independent reviewer, two guest principals and the school's Senior Education Improvement Leader (Department's nominee) exploring school data, interviewing focus groups of staff, students and parents/carers, and observing the school in action. Their feedback following each of the sessions has been overwhelmingly positive about our school community, the learning and wellbeing environment that is Croydon Hills PS, and the school culture. I have been beyond proud each time the Panel has assembled to share feedback and very much look forward to sharing their report to School Council.

I have also had my bucket filled by the broader community. I often receive emails and have conversations about our school and the children's displays of our school values. This week I've had two emails that I feel compelled to share:

Firstly, feedback from our Prep excursion to Myuna Farm:

G’day Croydon Hills Primary,

We had the Preps visit the farm today in the sunshine and they had a great time!

The farmers/staff here just wanted to pass on how awesome, respectful, fun and engaged the students were today and how much fun we had teaching them! All 3 staff members said how awesome the kids and teachers were and how we would have them back any day for a program.

Best three groups ever!

If this message could be passed on to the teachers, parents and students that would be great as they deserve some praise! (and some lollies 😊)

And secondly, following our choir's performance at the Kodolay Vic Festival:

(I am) reach(ing) out to you to thank you for bringing your choir to the festival yesterday evening.
It was lovely to meet you and your extremely enthusiastic students!

Thank you to our staff for your dedication to our children. Experiences like these provide students the most wonderful opportunities to shine. Moreover, thank you and well done to our community for valuing the development of 'the whole child' and ensuring our students present themselves in a way that makes us all so proud.

Parent Survey

A reminder that all Department of Education Schools are currently seeking parent and carer feedback via the Department's Parent Survey. Please head to Compass for the link to access the 20 minute online survey.
