Primary School

On Friday 2 August, the Kindergarten students celebrated their 100th day of school. The students came dressed in the theme of 100 and wowed us with some very creative outfits. Mrs Cowin, Mrs Reid and Mrs Morgan joined in the festivities by dressing up as 101 Dalmatians. The day started with a parade of costumes past the Primary School classrooms, where students were cheered on with streamers and bubbles from their peers. This was an exciting milestone for the Kinders and we had lots of fun activities throughout the day. The Kinders then had an excursion to the Adventure Play Park where they were treated to a special lunch. There were many scrumptious treats on offer, which were thoroughly enjoyed by all as we picnicked in the park. Keep reaching for the stars, Kinders. We are very proud of you!

Term 3 Co-Curricular Opportunities

We are excited to share the Term 3 Co-Curricular opportunities with our families. If you have any questions about the available programs, please contact your child’s classroom teacher.

Year 3 Writing

In Year 3, the students have delved into the art of creative and descriptive writing, focusing on the use of imagery, symbolism and connotation. Inspired by Caroline Magerl’s picture book ‘Piano Fingers’, the students were encouraged to express their thoughts and emotions through rich descriptive language. They practised crafting vivid descriptions and explored how imagery and symbolism can be used to enhance storytelling and convey complex ideas. Please enjoy reading some of their creative pieces.

“Bea dances her fingers on the keys, making the piano sing a gentle song that makes the flowers bloom. Every tap of a key brings light to the room, it’s like the piano is singing a wonderful song.”

By Hannah Gibson.

“Bea had a musical family, but she never felt like she was useful. When she saw the piano flowers started to bloom. Bea knew her piano skills weren't the best. But as she touched the dusty old piano keys she knew that Mastro Gus taught her well.”

By Arlie Barnstable

“A girl called Bea brumming on a piano with her energetic Maestro. A little girl sitting on a silky chair with a piano telling her ‘I am the light of the room, I make the flowers spin and twirl.’ Bea is playing it as a piece of cake.”

By Anastasia Attalh

“She just couldn't wait for her music to start. The flowers dancing and blooming around her. Mastro Gus conducting on top of the old piano house. Leaves rustling, it was heaven! She tapped the piano...it was music to her ears.”

By Grace Pike

“Bea’s fingers danced across the keys making incredible music. The exotic flowers seemed to cheer her on as she continued her beautiful debut. Maestro Gus hopped around and almost fell off the top of the giant piano.”

By Beau Coffey

“She just couldn't wait for her music to start. Bea sat down on the piano seat and pressed a key, a flower bloomed and every time she pressed a key flower bloomed. Mastro Gus danced and conducted with his little stick.”

Primary AFL Girls Competition

Tuesday 23 July, was a day of excitement and perseverance for the Campaspe Year 5/6 girls' football team at the annual Football Carnival. The team arrived eager and ready to give their best performance on the field. The day began with some nerves, but it was not long before the girls found their groove. Their skills shone through and despite the initial pressure from their opponents, they played with admirable respect, compassion and integrity. Their determination to improve and adapt was evident as they navigated the challenges of the day. As the matches progressed, the team’s confidence and coordination grew. By the end of the day, they delivered two impressive wins, culminating in a respectable fourth place overall. This result was especially noteworthy given that many of the players had limited experience outside of school competitions.

A special thanks must be extended to Mr Watson, our dedicated Assistant Coach, who played a crucial role in the girls’ success. His valuable tactics and strategies were instrumental in guiding the team throughout the carnival, helping the girls refine their game and boost their confidence.

The day concluded with high spirits and a strong sense of achievement. The team showcased their skills and sportsmanship with pride and their remarkable performance has set a high standard for future competitions. Congratulations to the girls and we are already looking forward to another exciting challenge next year!

Primary Assembly

On Friday 26 July, the Primary School community connected at the Primary Assembly. I would like to congratulate Edward Melville and Skye Starritt, our Martin House captains, for confidently conducting the Assembly. We enjoyed beautiful performances from Emily Campi who played ‘Ode to Joy’ on piano and Violet Lew who sang ‘Love Story’ by Taylor Swift whilst playing her guitar. We were also treated to a performance from the Year 11/12 rock band who performed 'Better' by the Screaming Jets.

We welcomed Year 10 students Aleisha Moon and Skyler Keet who shared some of their wonderful experiences from their recent Habitat for Humanity trip to Cambodia. This organisation seeks to break the cycle of poverty through safe, durable, affordable housing solutions with the support of volunteers. Mr Harris got everyone excited about the Olympic Games and shared that we are hosting our very own 2024 MAG Mini Olympic Games on Friday 9 August.

The Year 5 performance focused on their recent camp to Sovereign Hill in Ballarat where students enjoyed many highlights which were captured in a video collage. We look forward to our next Assembly on Friday 23 August when the Year 2 students will perform for us.

Congratulations to the students below who received a Core Value Award for consistently displaying one or more of the School’s Core Values and Motto. Keep up the great work!

Stage 1 Assembly

This week, Mr Moon’s class (1B) hosted the Stage 1 Assembly. The students confidently took turns to run the different segments of the Assembly. They presented some of their wonderful Olympic artworks and spoke about some of the different sports involved in the Olympics. We were very fortunate to have Trixie’s mother, Mrs Phoebe Knowles-Mulholland, share her own experiences from her involvement with the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000. The students were in awe when Phoebe uncovered her Olympic torch and spoke about running with it in the streets of Melbourne. She also spoke about the importance of participation in sport, being accepting of others and having fun.

The students who participated in the Young Performer’s Concert received their participation awards and we were amazed at the volume of music awards handed out. We also acknowledged all Stage 1 students who are learning an instrument. Following that we presented our ‘Stars of the Week’ awards to the worthy recipients:
