Library

From the Library Coordinator

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to Term 3, our library is now open and running.

As previously advised: the library is a quiet space.  Some children have been asked to leave as their level of noise is not conducive to the space. Storytime is enjoyed by our younger students therefore the level of noise needs to be kept to a minimum. Thank you to those primary students who read or enjoy craft quietly during this time.

Premier's Reading Challenge Information

I hope the holidays gave our students plenty of downtime to enable them time to continue reading their Premier’s Reading Challenge Books. It is only 3 weeks until the conclusion of the challenge.  Student’s entries need to be logged by 23 August, 2024.

Our primary students need to have read 20 books.

Our infant’s grades DO NOT need to enter any books read. The teachers read the students 30 books to those in Kindy, Year 1 and Year 2. It is not until Year 3 that they participate in the challenge independently.

Book Club

Issue 5 of Book Club is here!  The orders from Book Club 4 were handed out to the children yesterday, apologies for the delay. Book Club provides a fantastic opportunity to encourage regular reading and to offer great value to families.

We would like to encourage every student to borrow from our library on a regular basis.  To promote regular borrowing we are selecting one student from every grade who will win a SCHOLASTIC BOOK VOUCHER to spend on their choice of literature via our Book Club.

ALWAYS REMEMBER:

Our library is open everyday at lunch time for those who wish to return books, borrow books, read, colour, build lego or blocks, play Connect 4 or to just hang out in a quiet space.  Our Year 5 and 6 students also love the opportunity to read to our infant children at Story Time.

Many of our students are forgetting that they need a library bag/communication folder to borrow. They are needed to protect our books.

Please ensure that library bags are in school bags on Mondays for primary students and Fridays for our infant students.  The students’ library days don’t change.  If a student wishes to borrow on a different day to their scheduled library time, they are welcome to come to the library at lunch time to do so.

Enjoy the weekend and happy reading everyone.
