Good afternoon everyone.

It’s hard to believe we are in week 3 already. I hope you are all enjoying the Olympic Games coverage. Our children have been participating in many Olympic themed activities this week and several of our student leaders are in the process of organising a special event this Friday. Zarah, Jemma and Mia-Rose from Year Six, are coordinating sport activities on the oval for each year level. After some short announcements on the speaker system, the plan for the day is as follows-

9:10am – Year Prep & Year One

10:00am – Year Two & Year Three

11:30am – Year Six

12:30pm – Year Four & Year Five

The Olympic themed day will then continue in peer connect groups (cross-age groups) in classrooms, after lunch. Families are welcome to attend the sports/games sessions that will run until lunchtime, and students are invited to wear clothing/colours that reflect a country or sport, on the day. OGPS sports tops are also an option. There is no cost for this event.

100 days already – WOW! Our amazing Preps (94 of them), have completed 100 days of school. What an achievement for the children and their teachers. Tuesday afternoon we celebrated with a special Prep assembly in the gym and it was absolutely delightful to share this celebration with them, in their dress ups and with their beaming smiles! Prep is an incredible year which continues to amaze me – the growth, confidence and development of the children is extraordinary. Well done, Preps!

Thank you to those families who have taken the time to participate in the Parent/Caregiver/Guardian survey. Your feedback is extremely important, and we value your input. The survey will remain open for several weeks. I encourage all of our families to take the time to share your feedback and have your say in our school. Please check your ‘junk mail’ if you’re unable to locate the survey.

What an action packed day at Camp Wyuna (Queenscliff) for our Year Two students on Monday. The day camp provides a terrific introduction to our camping program – packing necessary items, having lunch at the camp and being organised for relevant activities. Although there were some tired children at the end of the day, the comments and feedback were wonderful. We’re glad that everyone had such a great time. As always, a huge thank you to the volunteers (Hollie Laver, Shane Lockyer and Helen Melville) who gave their time and energy, to support our students whilst they were at the day camp.

Our Year Six students head off to Howqua next Monday. They will be involved in an amazing range of activities, including a day on the slopes at Mount Buller. Another big thank you to those parents who will be heading away with them.

Thank you to the parents and families who have been working so hard on sustainability and compositing processes at OGPS. Last Friday, Emma Halliday volunteered her time to work with students and teachers on the compositing processes at OGPS. Thank you so much for your help and support Emma and the team. OGPS is very fortunate to be able to utilise the experience and expertise of our families.
