Principal's Report

Dear families,

Welcome to Semester 2. It sounds like staff and students had a great midyear break and are ready for the term ahead.

CONGRATULATIONS

Over the break we have had two very welcome additions to the Toolamba Community.

Eleanor Kate Argus arrived on the 1st July at 6.14am. She weighed 3.8kg/8.3lbs. Mason is currently on paternity leave until the 12th of August. I’m sure Emily, Harrison and Eleanor are enjoying having him at home to help.

Congratulations to Darrien and Jamie Calley on the arrival of Braxton who was born on Saturday 13th July weighing 4.3kg/9.11lbs. We were luck y enough to have a visit from them on Tuesday along with two very proud and helpful brothers Lincoln and Carter.

PARENTS & FRIENDS

Parents & Friends are having a Bunnings BBQ this Sunday 21st July. They are still in need of several volunteers between, 9-11am,11am -1pm and 1pm - 3pm. Please let us know if you can help out to avoid cancelling.

Our next meeting will be Tuesday 23rd July. Everyone is welcome to attend.

OVERVIEW

NAPLAN

NAPLAN results will be sent home today with your child. Overall, we are very pleased with our results. Numeracy results are impressive across both Grades. Grade 3 Reading and Numeracy are above Similar and Network Schools and Grade 5 results show very positive results when compared to Similar and Network Schools.

NAPLAN assesses the literacy and numeracy skills that students are learning through the school curriculum and allows parents/carers to see how their child is progressing against national proficiency standards. NAPLAN is just one aspect of a school’s assessment and reporting process. It does not replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance, but it can provide teachers with additional information about students’ educational progress. Staff this week have reviewed student achievement in NAPLAN and used the results to inform their Professional Learning Community direction for Semester 2.
