Family Maths Worded Problem

Welcome to our first family worded problem. The idea behind these is to work together as a family to find the answer to the worded problem. When you have the answer your child can hand in a written response to the office by July 24th with your family's name on it.

This weeks problem:

Meg has a $5 note.

She exchanges it with her friend Gemma for some coins worth $5.

Can she exchange it for 6 coins?

What is the largest number of different coins that Gemma can have given Mary?
