Physical Education

The past fortnight has been an exciting and action‑packed time for Physical Education at John Paul II, with our students proudly representing the school across a range of sporting events. From cross country to netball and AFL preparation clinics, our learners have shown commitment, teamwork and enthusiasm in every opportunity.
Interschool Cross Country
Twenty-Eight students proudly represented John Paul II at last Friday's Interschool Cross Country Carnival held at Bayview Secondary College, wearing our new athletics singlets with pride.
Our runners demonstrated outstanding determination, resilience and sportsmanship on a challenging course, giving their best effort and representing John Paul II exceptionally well.
A special congratulations to Xavier Cranfield‑Brown, who placed 19th, and Cooper Savage, who finished 26th, both students finishing in the top 30 of their respective races.
Congratulations to all 28 students on the positive way they represented John Paul II. Your effort, encouragement of one another and enthusiasm throughout the day made us incredibly proud.
HART Sport Netball Championships
Twenty Year 5/6 students represented John Paul II at the HART Sport Netball Championships at the South East Stadium in Sorell on Friday, 19 June.
Throughout the day, our students took on schools from across Hobart and the greater Hobart region, showing fantastic teamwork, resilience and determination in every game. It was exciting to see one of our teams make it through to the first final – a well deserved reward for their hard work and effort!
Miss Negri, Mrs Quilliam and Mrs Collinson were thrilled with the positive attitudes, encouragement and sportsmanship shown by all of our players. Win, lose or draw, every student represented the School with pride, supported their teammates and gave their best all day.
We congratulate all 20 players on a fantastic day of netball.
Sport Clinics – Term 3 Preparation
Our Grade 5/6 students have begun their Thursday afternoon sport clinics in preparation for the Term 3 STCPSSA Netball and AFL rosters.
Our netball teams are fortunate to be working with Fiona Geappen from Netball Tasmania, who is delivering three specialist coaching sessions to develop students’ skills, game awareness and understanding of the rules. Fiona is a highly respected and experienced netball coach, and students have gained so much across all three clinics, finishing their final session this week.
Our footballers have been training with Miss Negri, focusing on skill development, teamwork and match play as they prepare for the STCPSSA AFL roster in Term 3.
We thank Fiona for sharing her expertise with our students and look forward to seeing all of our teams continue to grow in confidence over the coming weeks.
