The Senior Primary classes had swimming lessons last term. One of the highlights was the opportunity to go to the deep end, particularly the older classes. Even some of the younger classes had the option and learn how to dive in the deep end.
On the last day there was a safety day in which the students learnt what to do when they see someone in trouble in the water, and what when you get caught in a current. They got to practice different rescues with different flotation devices. The important message from that lesson was to float or swim across the current. If you try to swim against the current you will probably get to tired to get to safety.
Even though it rained a bit, they enjoyed it because all the lessons were undercover. The students are looking forward to having their lessons next year. What a blessing the pool is so close the the school.

Thursday 19th was the first opportunity for our new Preps to begin their school journey, by undertaking a short transition visit. Our Prep teachers ran some simple activities as a way for the students to get used to their new surrounds in preparation for 2024. The teachers will also commence getting to know the students so they get prepared for 2024 themselves.
Each child received a special t-shirt to commemorate their commencement of schooling.
There were many nervous parents and children, however, it was a very positive morning judging by the many smiles witnessed as they were picked up at the end of the session.
This week was our second last transition day for our new Preps, whilst our current Preps continued to spend each of these mornings, continuing with their learning in the Music rooms.
On Monday the 30th of October, the Year 3 cohort embarked on their first three-day camp to Mill Valley Ranch in Tynong North.
The activities varied greatly from raft building, a commando course, archery, disc golf, team building games and horse riding to mention just a few.
The commando course, ropes course and raft building were some of the many team challenges. The students collaborated to problem solve, work together, discuss what actions needed to be taken, contribute, be risk takers, reflect and persist, all whilst developing new skills and encouraging each other on their courageous efforts and ventures.
The waffle breakfast and healthy dinners kept the students' energy levels high throughout the days. The Cowboy Chapel was a lovely time together of fellowship with the Mill Valley Ranch staff, where we sang new songs and engaged in the Lord’s word through praise and worship.
On the first night, as a result of poor weather, the students had the pleasure of enjoying a movie night instead of the booked night hike. This was a very welcomed activity as the students were all exhausted after their first day. The students enjoyed watching the classic film ‘Cool Runnings’, which had the students and staff laughing.
The second night, proved to be loads of fun, where the students were given the choice to either finish watching the movie from the previous night or to participate in the Minute-to-win-it games that we had organised. These activities involved games that the students participated in, such as ‘The Oreo Face Challenge’, ‘Bottle-flip’ and ‘Ping-pong ball pass’.
All of the Year 3 students and staff had a wonderful time building resilience, independence and confidence. We all returned to school safely with many fond memories and a new sense of pride after having conquered our fears and overcome some of the challenges we faced.

The air was buzzing with excitement and a hint of nerves, but the wait was over and the day had finally arrived for our much anticipated Year 2 sleepover, an initiative to help prepare students for their Year 3 camp next year.
It was a fantastic night filled with laughter, fun activities, delicious food, popcorn, movies and most of all, precious memories.
The following day we took a leisurely stroll through the Royal Botanical Gardens, slowing down and exploring the wonders of nature. Then we engaged in some fun-filled activities where we learnt about Biomimicry, which is when people use ideas from nature to solve problems & inspire new inventions. Both events would not have been possible without the collaborative efforts of our wonderful staff and parent helpers.
Thank you to you all for making this year's Year 2 Sleepover and Excursion a huge success.
Blessings

On Wednesday, November 8th, our Year 5 and 6 students delved into an enriching experience through the Tiger Paws Program, graciously supported by the Richmond Football Club.
This engaging session offered an impressive blend of theoretical and hands-on learning, leaving a lasting impact on our students. The morning was brimming with valuable insights into the significance of nutrition and balance, complemented by an introduction to the skills of Australian Football League (AFL).
The session featured dynamic activities including handballing drills, an expert-led goal-kicking clinic, and precision-enhancing kicking target practices. The joy and enthusiasm among our students were palpable as they actively participated and embraced the opportunity to learn and refine their AFL skills. Their engagement and eagerness truly reflected the success of the program.
A huge thank you to the Richmond Football Club for their support in making this event not just informative but immensely enjoyable.
Our students had an unforgettable time, and we're thrilled to see them embrace both the educational and sporting aspects of this fantastic initiative.
