Physical Education

Term 4- Week 10

STATE GIRLS YEAR 5/6 CRICKET -  We had a girls team travel to Melbourne to compete in the State Cricket competition. They came 7th in the State, which is a fantastic achievement. Well done girls! We are very proud of you. We would like to thank all the parents who accompanied them on the day and Mr McKernan who coached them.

SWIMMING - Swimming starts this week! I sent home the timetable and also emailed it to parents. Our swimming program teaches students about water safety, as well as learning swimming technique and skills in the water. Please make sure your child is well prepared. They need swim wear, including a rashie or t-shirt, to prevent sun burn. They also need a towel. They are able to walk to the pool with thongs or slides or slip on shoes. Please pack goggles if you have some. The students will be required to wear goggles. I have a few but not enough for everyone. We look forward to a great program.

YEAR 3/4 BIKE ED - Unfortunately our last Bike Education session was cancelled due to rain. We were disappointed not to be able to do a longer ride, but our students have done a great job to improve their skills and control on the bikes. Hopefully they can practise over the holidays, with their parents to do some more practise. It would be fantastic if parents can help them with their road usage, if they can.

FOUNDATION, 1 and 2 - The Junior School have been putting their skills into practise, with lots of games and fun activities. All activities over the holidays, including going to the park or the pool, nature play, riding scooters and bikes will help them to maintain their strength and fitness. It's ok to get them off their screens. They may say they are bored, but being 'bored' gives children a chance to explore their surroundings, play and move.

Have a fantastic holiday!
