Year 3-4

Welcome to Week 10!

 Swimming

Please keep an eye out for the swimming timetable. Students are welcome to wear their swimmers under their school clothes to school. Please make sure that all items of clothing are clearly named and students pack a plastic bag to put their wet swimmers and towel in after each session.

Engineers without Borders

Last week Engineers without Borders visited our school. The aim of Engineers without Borders  is to harness the potential of engineering to create an equitable reality for the planet and its people.  We love having EWB visit as they always provoke our thinking about ways we can improve our world. During their recent visit, they spoke to the students about sustainable housing to suit the climate in Cambodia, during the wet and dry seasons.

Christmas Carols

Don't forget that the Christmas Carols are on the oval next Monday night. All students need to be at school, ready for a 6pm start. Students can wear casual clothes. The School Advisory Council will be selling BBQ sausages on the night. No alcoholic drinks allowed.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Transition

On Tuesday 12th December, students will be spending some time with their new teachers and new classes ready  for 2024.

Maths

In Maths, have been learning aboutmapping concepts by creating and interpreting simple maps. They will develop skills in identifying key features such as symbols, legends, and compass directions, and apply this knowledge to represent familiar places in our local community. Students have also been learning about mass and estimating and weighing various items.

Literacy

In Literacy, we have completed our focus on poetry and now looking at different types of transactional writing. We have written letters to Santa and to Mrs Allen, wishing her all the best for her retirement.

Week 10 spelling focus- "v" as in voice

Religion

Later this week we begin our last RE unit for the year. Over the past fortnight we have been looking at the Christmas Story and how it differs in Luke and Matthews Gospels.

Did you know that ?

In Luke's Gospel only the shepherds visited Mary, Joseph and Jesus in the stable, and the Three Kings are not referenced at all.

Finally, we want to say thank you to all our families for their support over the year and wish you all a safe and happy Christmas.
