2024 SKiPPS Fete

Save the date and get involved

Our school is excited to announce that we will be holding our next annual fete early next year - on Saturday 2nd March.

As most of you would know, our fetes are incredible events - brining together;

  • thrilling rides,
  • stalls,
  • activities,
  • live music and entrainment,
  • food and drink,
  • the best silent auction in the Southern Hemisphere
  • and even some teachers being dunked...

In fact, they are so much fun, we can only hold them once every 2 years to give everyone time to properly recover.

As well as being fun, the fete acts as the major fundraiser for our school each 2 years. In 2022 the fete raised over $45,000 and this money was used for building our amazing classroom libraries.

Funds raised in 2024 will allow us to upgrade our basketball court and our student toilets and PA system. Work that we woulkd not be able to do using government funding alone.

We need all of our school community (current parents and carers, past families, future parents, ex-students, staff members, friends and relatives) to do a few things;

  • Put the date in your diary now (Saturday 2nd March). Make sure you are free on the day and able to come down and have fun.

  • Get involved! We have an amazing fete organising committee and are keen for new members. Pulling together an event as big as a fete is a big but very fun job and a great way to connect and give back to our great school. Closer to the time we will put a call out for volunteers on the day but now we are kleen to hear from any parents who can help us share the workload of making the event happen. In particular, we need parents who are willing and able to;
    • co-ordinate decorations on the day - leading a small team to make the school look festive and fun.
    • Someone with audio experience to work on the stage program for the day - running the sound mixing desk and making sure our performances sound amazing.
    • someone to co-ordinate the different sports activities taking place on the oval. We plan to have sports teams and organisations (Cricket, Hockey, Soccer) running clinics and drills on the oval and would love someone to liaise, co-ordinate and pull this program together.
    • Use any contacts they may have to help us with some professional printing in the lead up to the event - printing posters and other promotional materials to help us get the message out and t make the day look great.
    • pitch in and help out with the various other areas of the fete (food, music, stalls, logistics, auction donations, sponsorship, marketing, social media, etc, etc)

If there are any parents would like to get involved and help out with the running of our 2024 fete, please contact Belinda Williams, our fete co-ordinator on belindawilliams@hotmail.com

Silent Auction

Once again, we will be running a silent auction in the Performing Arts room on the day and this will again be hosted online to allow anyone to bid for items from their phone (whether they are at the fete or not).

This is always a fun (and hugely profitable) part of the day. Last year's fete silent auction included some incredible items, including;

  • gym memberships
  • artwork
  • restaurant vouchers
  • sports jerseys
  • holiday house accommodation
  • tickets to events
  • dance or art classes
  • professional services (massage, architecture, financial advice)
  • furniture  and homewares
  • wine

We will soon be sending formal requests out for donations for our 2024 fete auction but we would love parents and carers to consider making a donation or to speak to any contacts or employers that they may have who are keen to contribute to our school.
