A message from the Principal

Year 3/4 Camp

This week has seen the school feeling much emptier and quieter than usual as our Year 3/4 students have been away on school camp.

The four classes left on Monday morning, travelling down to the beautiful Camp Manyung in Mount Eliza for three days of adventure activities.

Whilst I was unable to attend this year's camp, it was wonderful to see so many photos of happy, smiling children being shared and to hear the reports of how well the students behaved and challenged themselves whilst on camp. It was also great to welcome them back to school on Wednesday afternoon safe and exhausted!

The weather was almost perfect for them this week and the range of activities from the giant swing, to surfing to raft building to the high ropes looked absolutely brilliant.

For many of the students, this would have been their first ever school camp and it is worth remembering what a daunting prospect this can be. Whilst it can be scary to leave home, not see your family for three days and share a cabin with a group of your classmates, we know the the major role that this plays in building confidence and resilience in our students.

Facing up to the challenges of being away from home, sharing cabins and completing often-daunting activities is an unrivalled learning experience.

School camps are very often the part of school that students look back on with the most fondness and I am sure that this year's Manyung Camp will be no exception.

I want to congratulate the students on such a big achievement.

I also want to acknowledge the teachers and Education Support staff who attended camp - leaving behind their own families and working at all hours to ensure our students were safe, happy and having a great time.
