5/6 JDZ & 5/6 JD

IN OUR LEARNING

We're close to the end of the year, but we haven't finished learning yet! In Reading, we have been focusing on our comprehension, exploring various strategies to help us find relevant information or meaning from the text. In Writing, we have created a range of texts for a variety of genres, investigating the effective use of literary devices to enhance the quality of the work. In Maths, we completed our short unit on chance and have moved on to our final unit of Measurement, exploring Volume, Capacity and Mass.

In Civics, we have almost finished our exploration of voting and parliament, looking lastly at the different levels of government.

In Science, we explored some chemical reactions, our most recent being bi-carb and soda in a bottle explosions. Students created predictions and described the type of reactions that occur to cause the explosion!

YEAR 6 CAMP

Our overnight camp into the city was a huge success! We managed to pack so much into our one night stay, including exploring South Bank, Federation Square and Culture Kings. We participated in bowling, laser tag and arcade games at Kingpin Crown and enjoyed a night walk again along South Bank to watch the Gas Brigades and then a short visit to the Myer Windows to see Bluey!

On our second day, we travelled to IMAX and watched two viewings, one about the Dinosaurs of Antarctica and the other about the African Savanna!

All in all, everyone was very well behaved and it was a great way to cap off the year!
