Hello families,
As always, I am hoping you are all well. in the Foundation room these past few weeks I
have seen amazing growth in all areas. We have been
exploring Diagraph sounds this term and this has been
helping us in our reading and blending practise. In writing we have completed Narrative texts for the year and are now moving onto Persuasive and Poetry.
We have enjoyed forming our opinions on lots of different topics and respecting the opinions of others as well.
In Numeracy, we have been exploring money, using both notes and coins to enjoy our class shop and buying produce. The students love role playing shop keepers and using their wallets to pay at their shop. In
Science, we have been exploring states of matter, differences between materials and how states can change, we explored using Oobleck (corn starch and water) and how its state can change if we push down hard on it or let our hands sink into the material. In Humanities, we have continued to explore “special places” within our communities and with our peers.
We had a fantastic day at “pizza in a box” day and enjoyed having a little picnic in the gallery together.
This week our children have loved seeing the dentist and being so brave with going into the dentist’s office. You will receive updates in your child's wallet across this week so please keep your eyes peeled for that!
Reading Eggs, Fast Phonics and Maths seeds:
I have attached your children’s QR codes into their diaries for them to
explore these educational apps, I would love to have feedback on these resources and how you found using them in the home environment. So far in class the children have loved using this tool as repetition of
learning already covered, and gaining more experience using ICT technologies in the classroom.
I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone for your amazing support this year, I am so lucky to be working with the Foundation cohort and the students come in every day with beautiful
big smiles and positive attitudes! That is all from me for now, we cannot wait for our concert and hope to see you all there!”
Hi everyone! We are so close to the end of the year now and we are super excited about everything that is coming up!
In maths students have been revising concepts from the year including
addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, measurement, probability
and fractions. They have been making inferences when reading and identifying types of words such as nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs and pronouns.
Students have been completing and publishing their acrostic, bio and senses poems. In science we have continued our work on the states of matter and did an experiment making Oobleck. The students found that Oobleck can be a liquid and a solid depending on the way it is handled!
We have been busily practising our concert songs and we can't wait to show you on
Monday! We also had an exciting delivery - two elves names Peppermint and Pudding!
