Dear Parent/Guardian/Carer/Staff and Students,
Congratulations to all of our Student of the Week and Specialist Subject award recipients. As usual we are very proud of your efforts!
Aussie of the Month Principal Lunch
I had an amazing time rewarding our 'Aussie of the Month' recipients together with Ms Waldron with a hot chip lunch. We all came together and enjoyed some laughs and highlights of some of the great things that have happened this year. Well done to you all. Marvellous achievement. See Facebook for some awesome pics.
School Captain Interviews and appointments for 2024
It was a very nice process to have had our current Captains and SRC representatives join Ms Waldron and myself to interview/shortlist all applicants/candidates for 2024. Our 2024 School Captains will be announced on our End of Year Assembly at Berwick Grammar. Parents of the successful applicants will be contacted to attend on the night.
State Wide Transition and Classes for 2024
All students at our school will participate in a Transition day next week Tuesday 12th. They will meet their new teachers for 2024 and have thorough prep-talks/'get to know each-other' activities leading into the new year. Final class lists will be set in 2024.
School Interior Painting
Our school will commence interior painting for all rooms of our current (middle school area) including the library and administration buildings. This work is due to commence on the 20th of December and is planned to be completed by 20th of January 2024. We are looking forward to a massive transformation of these sections of our school environment. This work will freshen up those areas and provide inviting teaching and learning areas.
School Exterior Pressure Clean
We are in the process of organising a thorough pressure clean of all exterior buildings including removal of all lichen across all buildings. We look forward to visiting a sparkling OPS in 2024.
Grade 6 Graduation
Year 6 Graduation is scheduled for the 14th of December. Please refer to details sent by Mr D about the night's schedule via Compass.
Colour Run 8th December
All parents are invited to join in on the fun and participate in our colour run program. Please refer to full details as per Compass.
School Council-THANK YOU
A huge thank you to our School Council President (Karen H) and committee members; Lillie B, PJ R, Lisa W, Melissa H, Julie B and Julian D for their tremendous work this year. It has been very nice working with you all to steer the direction at OPS.
PFA-THANK YOU
Thanks you to Jacqui P and all PFA members (Melissa H, Tania N, Mareee V, Krystle R, Tamara B, Emily K, Kylie T and Ashlee O) who have worked tirelessly to lead school events and make some great events take place this. Keep up the terrific work team. We appreciate everything that you do!
Staff First Aid Training
Last week all of our staff participated in First Aid Training. All staff are now certified to conduct First-Aid with students. Well done team!
Year 6 Overnight Camp
Our Year 6 students had an amazing time during their Year 6 camp to the city. A huge thank you to Mr D for leading the event. A big thanks to Ms Morris, Ms Dyt, Brayden and Corrina for supervising for the two nights.
Farewell Tracey (School Crossing)-19th December 2023
Our school crossing leader, Tracey will be leaving us after serving our community for many years. We wish her all the best in the next chapter of her life. Thanks on behalf of OPS. We have not yet received information from council about who will be replacing Tracey.
Regional Finals Hoop time update
Congratulations to Taylor, Adele, Catalina, Coby, Harley, Zander, Harrison and Hudson. Huge news for our school as we achieved coming 16th out of 750 schools. What an effort!!
Room changes 2024
For improved operations at OPS the following adjustments will take place in consultation with school leadership to allow for effective teaching and learning and well being at the school:
Prep, 1 and 2's will move into the present middle school building (complete new painting of all classes)
Grade 3, 4, 5 and 6's will move into the current Junior Building
Specialist classes/Wellbeing Hub will move into the current Senior School Building
