YEAR 1/2

As we head into our final week of school for 2023, we reflect on the year that was. It is hard to believe that our time together in 1/2 is coming to an end. As a cohort we have enjoyed so many amazing opportunities, including excursions to CERES, Melbourne Museum and Royal Botanic Gardens, many incursions and even some of our expert parents! We engaged in hands-on learning tasks, design challenges, cooking experiences, science experiments and so much more. We enjoyed exploring different cultures, Indigenous history and culture, the design process, birdhouses and special places!

We were curious, resourceful, persistent, courageous, respectful, responsible, flexible and open-minded throughout the year. We learnt many new skills and continued to develop and grow as thinkers, researchers, communicators, collaborators, self-managers and contributors.

Some of our highlights from the year include…

  • Bully Zero Superhero Day!
  • Footsteps concert
  • Excursions
  • Walk to School Day
  • Narrative Writing
  • Inquiry into places- Daintree Rainforest, Great Barrier Reef, Uluru
  • Reading at Mass and Prayer
  • Hands-on maths
  • Designing and making birdhouses
  • Dress up days
  • Pyjama Day
  • Discovery Time
  • STEM and Art
  • Sports Day
  • Carols Practise
  • Colour Fun Run

We thank the parents and families of 1/2AM, 1/2VK and 1/2VS for all of their support, time and effort. We are so thankful for the amazing year we had and look forward to another year of learning and making new memories in 2024. It has been a pleasure getting to know all of the amazing students. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Please stay safe over the break, and once again, thank you!

YEAR 3/4

WOW, what a wonderful year! We have had an amazing time getting to know each and every Year 3/4 student. It has been so much fun growing as learners together.

Thank you to the parent community for supporting us throughout the year, we wouldn’t have been able to do it without you.

A big congratulations and thank you to the 3/4 students who have gone above and beyond this year. We have had so many fun and exciting opportunities throughout the year, Factual Narrative writing, designing an animal enrichment, cultural day, fairy bread making, billy kart making just to list some!

Although we had some changes to our day on Friday, we still had the opportunity to engage in the Colour Fun Run. We had a ball running around and getting showered with colour!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

YEAR 5/6

This is it, our final week of 5/6 for 2023! What a fantastic year it has been this year. We are so grateful for the wonderful experiences we have shared with the students. From Confirmation and Camp, to the many excursions and funny moments, it certainly has been a year to remember. Whilst we are sad to say goodbye to our wonderful Year 6 students, we are so excited for their journey ahead and look forward to seeing our Year 5 students become the leaders of our school community.

In Literacy, we have been exploring all things Christmas. We investigated some poetic techniques including personification, alliteration, metaphors, similes and onomatopoeia. We brainstormed some interesting Christmas related vocabulary and then combined all this knowledge to write a range of engaging Christmas poems. We had great fun reading our unique poems in front of our classmates. We also used a video prompt based on what Santa does on the other 364 days to inspire us to write a creative writing story about Santa on vacation. This was a fun activity and it was interesting to hear all the different places Santa visited.

This week, we will be preparing for the final whole school assembly for the year, which is of course, the final St. Fidelis assembly ever for our Year 6 students. We will meet with our buddies as part of final farewells. This Thursday, is the school Christmas carols where the whole of 5/6 SLA will be in full voice. Please join us.

On Wednesday Year 6 students head out for their end of primary school celebration day. We will be spending time at Woodlands Park and then on to Bounce. Year 5 students will be meeting with specialist teachers on that day.

On Saturday, we celebrated the graduating Class of 2023! The students engaged in a beautiful  Mass and then danced their way into the hall for the official ceremony. We would like to give a big thanks to the Year 6 students, the Parents and Friends Committee, Ms. Gasbarro and all other staff who supported us in preparing for this important day. A special thanks to Lucy Leahy for all her organisation for the dinner, it was such fun! Shout out to Ms Sally for all her support this year with our 5/6 students this year, it hasn't gone unnoticed, we are so appreciative. Thank you to all those who attended on the day and were part of this beautiful celebration. It made it a lovely send off for our Year 6 2023 graduates.

Thank you for a fantastic year and all your support.

Have a very Merry Christmas and safe Holiday break.

Best Wishes,

Aoife O’Flynn, Graham Troy and Olivia Sargent
