Bendigo Excursion

On Friday the Year P-3's decided to brave the oncoming storm in a bid to learn more about Chinese culture and immigration. With the clouds gathering, we decided to go to Rosalind Park and climb the Poppet Head first.

The kids were all super brave despite the incredible gusts of wind we were receiving at the top. We then stopped for a quick snack with the beautiful bats in the park, before going to the Golden Dragon Museum.

Here, we were able to immerse ourselves in the rich historical culture shared in the museum, gardens and temple. Then, as the rain came, we donned our umbrellas and made our way to KFC (with a brief stop at the dragon playground). It was here that the kids ordered and paid for their own lunches before enjoying them in the privacy of the KFC boardroom. What a day!

Yr 5/6 Canberra Camp

We have returned from "Our Nation's Capital" after a week away with our Campaspe Small Schools Group. Our four students were joined by 37 other Year 5/6 students from Elmore,

Colbinabbin, Goornong, Nanneella  and OLSH Primary Schools. They visited many places of interest over the five days learning about Parliament, the Visual Arts, Science, History and Voting in Australia.

Below are our students responses to the questions "What is the benefit to going on a cluster camp to Canberra and what was your favourite part?"

Link: Cluster Camp is a great way to visit new places and be with other schools like ours. I loved going to Parliament House because it is such a special and important place. We got to see inside and see so much cool stuff.

Piper: We go to camp at Canberra to learn about Australian culture and important places to do with history and our life. My favourite activity was visiting the Australian Electoral Commission we learnt how to vote and we were able to go on touch screen tvs.

Kiara: I think we went to Canberra for this year's cluster camp to make new friends and to

have a lot of fun in our capital. My favourite place was the War Memorial because we got to see a lot of displays about the wars that Australia has been a part of.

Lily: We went to Canberra to learn about the capital of Australia. My favourite place to visit would have to have been the Royal Australian Mint; I got to print off my own coin.

Welcome Shyann

This week we have a work experience student from East Loddon College join us. Shyann is a local Year 10 student who has elected to return to her old primary school to complete work experience this week. Shyann has been working with all of our students within the classroom environment and helping the staff with daily tasks. It has been wonderful having her at the school. We wish Shyann all the best for her future studies.

MARC Library News from Mrs Gentry

Just a reminder that borrowing for 2023 has now ceased so that I can do a stock-take on all of the books. Students need to return all outstanding books at our next session- tomorrow (Friday). Please look under beds, on bookshelves, in cars and anywhere else that books might be hiding. Our final MARC session for the year is on Thursday December 7th.

I would like to take this opportunity to say a big THANK YOU to Mrs G for another fantastic year of library this year. Our students have loved their fortnightly borrowing and their classroom sessions.

Art News from Miss Duffy

Our students have now completed their bug sculptures made from wire, newspaper and plaster bandage. They are so proud of their efforts and we can't wait to show you the finished products.

We will now begin some Christmas art and craft, so be on the lookout for some special creations heading your way in the coming weeks.
