Term 1 Week 6

Konnichiwa everyone,

We have "hit the ground running" in the Japanese room this year. As part of our curriculum, cultural events and festivals of Japan are explored. All classes have been learning about the celebration of the Lunar New Year. Each grade completed an activity to showcase the Year of the Snake (Hebi no toshi). People born in the year of the snake are said to be kind, flexible and intelligent. It's a year of transformation and change.

Below is a picture of 2B proudly wearing their Lunar New Year headband......

Music Update

We have been having a blast of a time in Music being busy bees!

Preps - have been exploring music and movements with their rainbow scarves and ribbons. They have been singing songs and using their scarves to show their actions. Some of our favourites have been 'Helicopter, Helicopter' and 'If you're happy and you know it...' wearing our scarves is the BEST version of the song!

Year 1's - Have been reading and singing 'Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do you See?' This week they have created their own colourful animals to sing their own versions of the story!

Year 2's - The glockenspiels have been dusted off this term and the students are learning to play them and follow music. We started playing 3-letter words before dabble in learning to play familiar songs. We are all learning the louder doesn't always sound better!
