NAPLAN: Please see the document attached below with FAQ about the NAPLAN assessments, if you have any concerns please contact the office.
Please ensure that on the morning of assessments that your child has had breakfast and a drink of water. It is also important that they are on time in the morning so they are present for important instructions and a smooth start to the session.
The assessments your child will be doing will be:
- Writing
- Reading
- Language Conventions
- Numeracy
Literacy:
This week we have been exploring texts online using our favourite reading platform, EPIC! The students have worked on reading texts about therapy and assistance dogs, just like our famous Lenny! We have learned about the jobs that animals can do and how they contribute to society. We have made connections, answered questions and practised our fluency.
Numeracy:
We have continued brushing up our skills across all areas of place value by continuing our daily reviews. We have also looked at strategies which help us solve addition and subtraction problems. This week has been about using the jump strategy and the split strategy.
Inquiry:
This week, we put our thinking caps on to become.... FAIRNESS INSPECTORS! This meant the students used a school map, and walked around the school thinking about all the ways that Skye Primary is accessible for those living with a disability. We also brainstormed some issues that could pop up too!
Wellbeing:
Emotions! This week we have been exploring the countless emotions that we can express. The students watched the below video and it's amazing to note just how many the children picked up on! Can you list a few as you watch it? This task will lead into how we perceive emotions, how we can regulate ourselves and support others.
Check out some of the work we have put on display in the classrooms!
Need our emails? Here they are! Please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
