 - Mr Michael Horne

At the time of this newsletter’s publishing, I will be on a flight to Guangzhou to represent the school at a series of international student exhibitions. Re-building the international student cohort has been a priority since my arrival at College, and I am pleased that we are seeing increasing interest and growing numbers of commencements. Our international students receive a quality education in a safe and nurturing environment, while also adding much to the experience of local students. To support this area of our school I am very pleased that Penny Callinan has taken on the position of International Student Coordinator. Penny has an abiding interest in Asian cultures, Chinese language proficiency, as well as the knowledge and disposition to welcome and support our international students. She will be meeting regularly with the group in the boarding house and also involved in international student recruitment.

As we welcome Penny to her role, we farewell Sally Finch in the Canteen, who will finish with us at the end of the week. Well known to all in the Senior School, Sally is equally admired for her conversation and warm personality, as for her food. She has received a number of awards in her time here, including being recognised as a 'Canteen Champion' by the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation for her work. Sally is heading off to realise a long-held dream to work as a remote station cook. She goes with our best wishes and they are lucky to have her.

A new Canteen Manager has been appointed and will be introduced shortly. Next week will have slightly reduced services as hand-over happens; details to be communicated separately.
