Amadeus Music Program

Ethan Parlato

The Amadeus String Program for 2025 is back in full flow, with students in Years 4–6 picking up right where they left off after the break, continuing their work in the Essential Elements book and exploring new repertoire in a variety of styles, including Reggae, Rock, Hoe Down, and Wild West music.

There was also great excitement as our Year 3 students took home their instruments for the first time! They have been learning how to care for them, identifying string names, and playing their first few pieces. A highlight was in Week 5, when all violins, violas, and cellos came together for their very first Year 3 string ensemble rehearsal—30 young musicians experiencing the joy of playing as a group!

Meanwhile, our Year 3–6 concert bands have been refining their skills, focusing on tone, color, and technical precision while enjoying pieces from Essential Elements and exciting additions like We Will Rock You and Power Rock

Our Year 5 and 6 students are especially looking forward to the upcoming Eisteddfod, where they will showcase their talents with performances of Thriller and Viva la Vida. It has been incredible to witness the enthusiasm, progress, and dedication of all our young musicians, and we can't wait to see what the rest of the year brings!
