Last week the school Captains from OLF attended Mass at St Mary’s Cathedral accompanied by Mrs Clay. Students from across the Sydney Archdiocese were represented at the Mass which was concelebrated by Archbishop Anthony Fisher and several other priests from across the Archdiocese. We were very proud of our school captains who spoke very enthusiastically about their experience on their return to school !
On Wednesday, 9th April you are invited to join us in a reflection on Holy Week. Each grade will be presenting one part of the Holy Week journey - a journey through the last week of Jesus’ life. The Reflection will take place on the top playground and will commence at 9.15am. Please see the following invitation for more details:
I received an email last week about an exciting movie that is going to hit the cinemas on 19th April. And it sounds FABULOUS !!!
This animated film, featuring an all-star cast including Kenneth Branagh, Uma Thurman, Mark Hamil, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, Forest Whitaker, and Oscar Isaac, brings to life the story of Jesus Christ through the imaginative lens of Charles Dickens narrating to his son, Walter. I have watched the trailer and it looks GREAT !!!
You too can watch the trailer here:
If you have a child in Year 3 who is receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation next term - please read the following note from the Parish Sacramental Team …..
Letter to Parents/Guardians about 2025 Reconciliation Programme
24 March 2025
Dear Parents / Guardians,
Welcome to the sacrament of Reconciliation! The Sacrament of Reconciliation, also known as Confession or Penance, is a sacrament of healing and spiritual renewal in the Catholic Church. This is a beautiful and meaningful step in a Catholic’s spiritual journey, where individuals experience God's love, forgiveness and healing. It is a sacred opportunity for individuals to seek forgiveness for their sins, receive God’s grace, and restore their relationship with God and the Church community.
This sacrament is received by young people in Year 3 and older, who have already received Baptism.
The 2025 Reconciliation Formation Programme consists of 4 elements:
● Family Information Evening,
● Family & Candidate Commitment Mass,
● Formation sessions x 3
● Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Family Information Evening: Tuesday 6th May - 7pm in the OLOF Church
● This is an essential part of the program for parents and candidates. We ask that at least one parent of every prospective candidate attends the information evening, so that the elements of the programme can be explained.
● Registration of candidates will occur online via a google form between 6 May and registration closes on 15 May 2025 at 6pm.
Family & Candidate Commitment Mass - Saturday - 17 May 5.30pm @ OLOF Church
● Candidates and at least one family member must attend the Family Commitment Mass to enrol for the Reconciliation Formation program and receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Formation Sessions: Tuesdays at 2.00pm in the Yr 3 Classrooms @ OLF Primary School
● The formation activities for the Sacrament of Reconciliation take place over 3 consecutive Tuesday afternoons at 2pm commencing Tuesday 20th May and running on Tuesday 27th May and Tuesday 3 June 2025 when our Parish Priests will visit the classrooms.
● Candidates who have completed the full formation programme will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation on either Tuesday 10th June at 4pm or Thursday 12th June at 6pm.

It’s not too late to donate to Project Compassion !
Each grade has a Project Compassion box in their classroom and they have been contributing to it regularly.
Remember: By supporting Caritas and placing money in a Project Compassion box you will be helping those who are less fortunate than us.
As well as in classrooms, these are also located in the Church foyer.
Alternatively you can donate directly through the Caritas website. The link can be found here.
Have a fabulous fortnight everyone !
