SSV Eureka Senior & Intermediate Cricket
On Thursday 20th February BHS entered 3 cricket teams (Senior Boys, Senior Girls, Intermediate Boys) into the SSV Eureka Senior & Intermediate Cricket competition at Vic Park, Ballarat.
It was an absolute scorcher with temperatures reaching well over 30°, some would say perfect cricket conditions! The Senior Boys had 2 matches against Phoenix College (5 wickets/94 runs v 5/100) & SEDA College (5/64 v 10/63). The team went 1 win (against SEDA College) and 1 loss (against Phoenix College), ultimately going down to Phoenix College the eventual winners.
The Intermediate Boys found themselves in a 5-team competition resulting in so many matches all teams had to return on Friday 7th March to complete them all! The Intermediate Boys team had matches against Mount Clear College (3/118 v 2/118), Phoenix Secondary College (3/96 v 1/95), Mount Rowan Secondary College (10/86 v 8/104) and Woodmans Hill Secondary College (2/116 v 5/36). Unfortunately, the team didn’t take the most of the opportunities presented to them and went down to the eventual winners Mount Rowan Secondary College and let a win against Mount Clear College slip. The team had finished third for the competition.
Finally, the Senior Girls got a walk over when their opponent pulled out of the competition. They will progress to the SSV Greater Western Region Senior Girls Cricket competition on Wednesday 5th March at Vic Park

SSV Greater Western Region Senior Girls Cricket
On Wednesday 5th March BHS made the short trip over to Vic Park for the SSV Greater Western Region Senior Girls Cricket competition.
The team had one Twenty/20 match against Camperdown College for a place in the SSV State Quarter Finals. Camperdown won the toss and elected to bat first making 137 runs for the loss of 2 wickets, in reply the BHS team could only muster 85 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. This left BHS 52 runs short of the total, giving Camperdown the victory.
Coach Robert Simmonds said the Camperdown team had significantly better depth so it was always going to be an uphill battle. He congratulated his High School team on their efforts.

SSV Eureka Senior Volleyball
On Tuesday 18th March BHS entered 2 Volleyball teams (Senior Boys, Senior Girls) into the SSV Eureka Senior Volleyball competition at Daylesford College.
We always appreciate Daylesford College hosting the SSV Eureka Volleyball competitions in conjunction with the Daylesford Volleyball Association.
The Senior Boys found themselves in an 8 team Pool Play competition against Mount Clear College (2 sets-42 points to 0-19), Beaufort Secondary College A Team (2-42 to 0-26) and Phoenix Secondary College B Team (2-42 to 0-19). Beaufort Secondary College B Team, Daylesford College, Mount Rowan Secondary College and Phoenix Secondary College A Team made up Pool B.
3 wins secured the BHS top spot in Pool A and a Semi Final match against Phoenix Secondary College A Team. Both sets were super close with the BHS side winning both, 2-42 to 0-34, which secured a spot in the Grand Final against the home side Daylesford Secondary College. Like the Semi Final both sets were close but BHS took advantage of some great serving to close out the match 2-42 to 0-34, not dropping a set for the entire competition. BHS were the 2025 Eureka Division Champions.
The Senior Girls found themselves in a much different situation with only two other teams entered into the competition. They played matches against Mount Clear College (3-116 to 2-95) and Daylesford Secondary College (0-36 v 3-75). The team got a close win against Mount Clear College and battled gallantly against a well drilled Daylesford College team but came up short in the sets department, the girls had a great time all the same!
The Senior Boys team has now qualified for the SSV Greater Western Region Senior Boys Volleyball competition on Tuesday 1st April at St Brigid’s College in Horsham.
Students involved:
Senior Boys – Jesse Baker, Floyd Brooks, Max Francis, Jacob Hutchinson, Max Thomson, Kale Tuaine, Aiden Wiltsher
