Senior School Updates: A Term Full of Opportunities and Achievements

As we move further into the academic year, our Senior School students in Years 10, 11, and 12 have been actively engaging in a variety of enriching activities and opportunities designed to support both their academic growth and personal development. From focused study sessions to exciting extracurricular events, the year ahead promises to be both rewarding and eventful.

Year 12 Camp: Building Resilience and Camaraderie

Our Year 12 students recently embarked on their much-anticipated camp to Melbourne, a pivotal event in their final year of secondary schooling. Filled with visits to universities, a lecture from the Chief VCE English examiner, an incursion from Success Integrated, ice skating, laser tag and bowling, this experience allowed students to step away from their daily routines and engage in team-building activities, goal-setting workshops, and resilience training. The camp fostered a sense of unity among students and reinforced the importance of perseverance as they navigate the challenges of their final year.

Debutante Ball Training Underway

For our 50 students participating in the upcoming Debutante Ball, training sessions are now in full swing. These sessions provide students with an opportunity to develop their confidence, refine their presentation skills, and work collaboratively with their peers. The dedication shown by our students in preparing for this significant event is commendable, and we look forward to celebrating their achievements on the big night, Friday the 4th of April.

Extended Study Sessions: Maximising Learning Opportunities

To support our senior students in their academic pursuits, we are pleased to offer extended after-school study sessions every Thursday until 4:30 pm, study snacks provided. These sessions provide a structured environment for students to focus on their coursework, seek assistance from teachers, and collaborate with their peers. We encourage all students to make the most of this opportunity to enhance their learning.

Year 12 English Masterclasses: Strengthening Literacy Skills

For students seeking additional support in English, Helen Billett, the Chief Assessor for VCE English, is running dedicated masterclasses Wednesday 3.40- 4.30pm at key dates this term and term 3. These sessions are designed to assist students in refining their analytical and writing skills, ensuring they are well-prepared for upcoming assessments and examinations. We strongly encourage students to take advantage of this valuable resource and have had a fantastic turn out for the last three sessions

Upcoming Parent-Teacher Interviews

A reminder that our upcoming Parent-Teacher Interviews will take place on the 3rd and 4th of April. This is an important opportunity for parents and guardians to discuss their child's progress with teachers and gain insights into their academic strengths and areas for improvement. Bookings will be available on compass, and we encourage all families to participate in these vital discussions. Bookings will be open next week and a letter will be going home with more information.

Volleyball Competition: School Sports Victoria

Sporting enthusiasm is alive and well at our school, with the upcoming volleyball competition set to bring together students from across Wellington Shire. This event provides a fantastic platform for students to showcase their skills, develop teamwork, and engage in friendly competition. We wish all teams the best of luck and look forward to an exciting tournament as there is a chance to go on to Gippsland and then to State competitions.

Success Integrated Incursion: Inspiring the Leaders of Tomorrow

We were thrilled to welcome Success Integrated for an inspiring incursion late February for year 10 and 11 students. This was aimed at equipping our students with valuable life skills, motivation, and strategies for success. These sessions focussed on goal setting, resilience, and personal development, reinforcing the importance of a growth mindset in achieving both academic and personal aspirations.

With so many exciting events and opportunities ahead, we encourage all students to stay engaged, take advantage of available support, and continue striving for their personal best. We look forward to a year filled with achievement, growth, and success.
