Restorative Practices

Building a Stronger School Community Through Restorative Practices
In our last newsletter, we focused on our routines and expectations as the foundation for a safe and respectful learning environment. Equally important is how we maintain and repair relationships, ensuring that when challenges arise, students have the tools to restore trust and move forward positively.
The Power of Priming and Circles
A key part of this work is priming and circle time, which help students start their day feeling connected and ready to learn. These moments of reflection and discussion build understanding and strengthen relationships, ensuring all voices are heard.
Restorative Conversations – Repairing, Not Punishing
When issues arise, our approach focuses on understanding, accountability, and repair. Through Restorative Conversations, students reflect on their actions, recognise their impact, and take steps to make things right. While there are always appropriate consequences, they are meaningful, owned by those involved, and focused on learning and growth.
Looking Ahead
Already this year, we’ve seen students engaging positively in circles, taking responsibility, and finding ways to rebuild trust when needed. This ongoing commitment ensures our school remains a place where respect, understanding, and growth are at the heart of what we do.
