A Meaningful Start to Lent – Shrove Tuesday & Ash Wednesday
Dear Families,
This week, our students have been deeply engaged in learning about the significance of Lent in our Catholic faith.
On Tuesday, we were blessed with the support of our wonderful parent helpers, who generously gave their time to help make and distribute pancakes for Shrove Tuesday. This tradition reminds us of the importance of preparing our hearts for Lent. Students explored this further in their Religious Education lessons, learning about the meaning of fasting and repentance.
On Wednesday, we came together as a school community at St. Joseph’s Parish to celebrate Ash Wednesday Mass, marking the beginning of Lent. Through prayer and the receiving of ashes, we were reminded of our call to turn towards God with open hearts.
As part of our Lenten journey, students are bringing home a Caritas Project Compassionbox. This supports our focus on the three pillars of Lent—prayer, fasting, and almsgiving—encouraging us to think of those less fortunate and to act with compassion.
A heartfelt thank you to all who have contributed to making this a meaningful week for our students. Your support and generosity help us live out the values of our faith each day.
