Grade 3 Report

Scienceworks

As part of our unit of work on Earth and Space Sciences this term, the Grade 3 children went for a visit to Scienceworks.

They watched a 30-minute science show which used audio-visual equipment and interactive demonstrations to explain how the Earth’s rotation on its axis affects the day and night cycle, and why we have seasons on Earth.

They also had a wonderful time visiting Sportsworks, Think Ahead, and Beyond Perception which were all interactive exhibitions.

In Beyond Perception, Zain and I went in the mirror maze and 

we lost each other – Isabelle

In Sportsworks, I beat Cathy Freeman in a running race – Ollie

In Beyond Perception, they have chairs that massage you and if you 

put your ear on the cushion you hear music – Glorious

In Beyond Perception, I touched a wall that was made from material and 

when you touched it, it moved – Kineeya

In the Sun, Earth and Moon show, I found out that over 

1,000,000 earths can fit in the sun - Harvey H

In Sportsworks I tested my grip and got 22 kg – William

My highlight of Scienceworks was Beyond Perception in the area where 

you can spin a wheel and make all these colour shapes – Charlie

At Scienceworks, I made my way around the mirror maze and it was easy  - Audrey

I liked the colour swirl wall in Beyond Perception – Evan

Did you know that when the Earth is tilted away from the Sun it is Winter? – Alina

At Sportsworks, I tested my jumping skills and I jumped 135 mm – Terrence

When I was in Beyond Perception, I lay on the cushions and listened to 

mindfulness music while feeling the cushion vibrate – Emily

Did you know that if the Earth wasn’t tilted there would only be one season? – Estelle

In Beyond Perception, I got stuck in the mirror maze – Joe

In Beyond Perception, I sat down on a vibrating bed and I felt nice and relaxed – Camille

In Beyond Perception I ran in the mirror maze and got stuck – Beatrice

At Scienceworks, I really liked Sportworks because there was an AFL game and 

you had to handball the footy in the target – Harvey B

In Sportworks, I raced against Isabelle and she won - Zain
