Before, After and Holiday Care @ St Mary's
Hello Families,
This year continues to move at a rapid speed! We are always finding new things to do around the service and are so excited to share these with the extended St Mary’s Community. Over the past two weeks our themes were “Treasure Island” and “Halloween Horrors”.
Before I get started on all the fun, I wanted to advise our families that don’t already know, I (Swaye) am set to head out on University Placement on the 26th of October. Paige will be working at the service in my place. I can’t wait to see all of the fun that the children have got up to in my absence once I return on November 20th!
Week 3 – Treasure Island
This week we imagined ourselves as Pirates on a Treasure Mission. On Monday, we started all our fun by creating some Popsicle Stick Pirate Flags. We also got creative and turned some wooden serving spoons into Pirate Puppets. The fun continued through to Tuesday where we completed a Pirate Face Colour By Numbers. We also challenged our thinking skills in a game of Sink The Boat! The children would fill tinfoil boats with different items they found around the service to see if they sunk! On Wednesday the children engaged in a Parrot Colouring. On Thursday we tried a new form of craft and made some Peg Pirates. We cut the pirates mouths across the middle, and this meant they could “talk”. Our fun come to an end on Friday where in the morning we did a Pirate Themed Word Search!
Week 4 – Halloween Horrors
This week we are exploring all things Halloween! The children are so excited and love that they can use some of their crafts as part of their Halloween Costumes next Tuesday! On Monday we started by making some Spiderweb Ornaments we also did some Bat Silhouette colourings with Chalk! On Tuesday our thrill continued when we made some Paint Splat Cauldron and did a Spooky Secret Colour by Numbers. On Wednesday the children enjoyed Halloween colouring and drawing. On Thursday we will be making some Puffy Ghosts using Cotton Balls and building some Paper Plate Witch Houses. Our Halloween fun will come to an end this Friday morning when we create some Halloween Paper Lanterns.
Sun Safety
As always entering Term 4 it is required that children are wearing hats when engaging in outdoor play. Can I please ask parents and guardians that you remind your child to bring their hat over to After School Care so that we can go outside and enjoy all the sun has to offer safely! If preferred we have a tub at the service, your child is welcome to bring a spare sun safe hat that is named that they keep at the service and use throughout the course of the Term! Sunscreen will be applied before going outside every afternoon, if you child requires a particular sunscreen, please do not hesitate to let me know so that I can accommodate for this!
Over the next two weeks our weekly themes are “On The Farm” and “Sugar Station”. We can’t wait to share with the extended St Mary’s Community all that we get up to next!
If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact us by our details below.
Many Thanks,
St Mary’s TheirCare Team
